max boost for my set up????

Hi guys. I have a 91 talon tsi awd that is very well maintained tune up/mod wise with 98k miles(ive owned car for last 13 years). I had my ecu done by ken at dsmchips few years ago(stage 1). Im trying to remember what max boost he said I can run with my set up? Pretty sure he said 18-20 psi? Im running 16 now. The only sort of tunning I have done is this chip. Im on stock injectors/rewired 190 pump/93 octane. Other mods include ported/clipped small 16,ported 2g o2,ported turbine housing,full 2.5 turbo back exhaust/test pipe, fp manifold, air intake tube/k@n, turbo outlet pipe upgrade,upper ic pipe/tb pipe upgrade,super side mount ic/nx sprayer, haulman bc,maf screen mod/wheel well ic screen mod, recent full tune up/new o2/timing belt done. What do you guys think I can run for boost? I need someone who knows what there talking about not just what you can read on the net. Ive done a bunch of reading and come up with 18ish being safe. But also seen people running 20-22 psi. I know each car is different. Thx in advance!!!!!!

A 16g on stock injectors probably 15 at the absolute most. You would need to monitor a/f ratio's and knock to know for sure though.

man that was quick reply! Yeah Ive always read 15 psi is safe. If I ran 550's you think 20psi would be safe? Theres a couple guys at local track running 18-22 psi with 190/big 16. they have only few mods compared to me and are quicker than me. They use no tunning devices either??

get a wideband to make sure regardless of your buddies, safe than sorry.

550's and 2g maf..

The chip should be changed to 2g maf tho..

If you plan on pushing 20+ psi on the 16g arp head studs are reccomended,But not needed.

yeah thats why ive always kept mine at 15-16. Dont want blow my sh-t up . Dont have much knowledge on widebands? I know what they are but dont really know how to use them or which set up to get?

There are many write ups on how to install a wideband on the site..You can find them in the classifieds for about 150$ for gauge and sensor.

ok thx for the info. Now what do you think about a ported 2g o2 housing vs ebays ss tubular housing? I had the ebay housing and it seemed to work better? I know people are running 11's with 2g housing tho. I got boost creep with ebays and not so much with 2g. Ebays seemed to flow better tho? What are your thoughts?

I'm suprised your not getting creep with only the 16g..Anytime you open up the exhaust side, you may get creep. I got creep on a 1g o2 housing, on a stock exhaust.

The 2g manifold alone, has put down 400's.A ported to hell 2g o2 housing, is probably better than a ebay one. One just may be more shiny.

In the dsm game a dremel will save you money, and get your hands dirty.

yeah not much creep at all. maybe 1-2 psi over rpm range. Yeah a dremeled the flapper out very well and gasket matched the o2 housing plus oppenned up the inside alot. Took couple hours but like you said saves you money. Couple years ago I sent my 2g manifold out to sbracing to have it ported. Lets just say when I got it back i was like wtf? My wife couldve done that . rIp off in price also. I run the fb manifold now. What you think about fp mainfold?

Although, you cant use the stock heat sheild on the fp manifold.I have a 2g ported to shit manifold,and ported turbine housing..

Not sure how badass it is yet..Setup only has idle time on it still.

. Yeah the fp is pretty bad A looking. Ive had no melting/heating issues with mine. I made 1/2 inch spacers to slightly prop up rear of my hood and removed the weather strip. Kinda like a mini cowl induction. Def helps hot air escape. I noticed a difference in exhaust tone and seems to be little better upper end pull. Im happy with it! with my mods what would you say my car should run in 1/4? Ive run 13.5 with 1.8 60ft. That was years ago before the fp,dsm chip, ported 2g o2 and 190 pump. I think i should be running quicker than that.

Wow almost feels like I got yelled at by my parents . Yeah I dont post alot on this here just read alot. Didnt know my question was out of line? As far as poor guy mods(hood) Ive never seen or read any other way to let heat out? The fp def produces alot more under hood heat even with a heatsheild. What do you suggest?

Forget the chip or trying to "get by" on 550's and a 2g maf. Get yourself a wideband and set up Jackal/ostrich and get a tune on that thing.

It is literally so simple you could set it up and tune in your sleep. Link seems incredibly over complicated for what it needs to do, especially the speed density. But its still the best option 2g owners have. The 1g on the other hand, Jackal is the only thing id use on it. I think once you tried it, you'd be hooked too. Plus a full tuning system for the price of an safc, how can you not love that.
