ok i have a problem, a while back iwas workin on my bros 97 GSX w/ 6-bolt swap and i accidentally touched two prongs together in the o2 sensor and shorted out the ECU ground, i fixed that and now the TPS and MAP sensor have no power. Are there fuses that run those 2 or is there a prong on the ECU that i might have fried and not know about? Any help will be much appreciated!

Thanks in advance,
Jon B

there will be prongs on the ecu for sure, i highly doubt they have fuses though as the fires run directly into the ecu, i would either get a new harness (which will be a pain) or get a new ecu (which could still be a pain) and if the harness doesnt work then you shorted the ecu, if the ecu doesnt work then you shorted the harness

Holy cow man, this sounds like exactly what's going on with my car, I swapped my o2 housing and now I'm having a problem with my MAP sensor and TPS.

How did you fix the issue, did you have to replace the entire ECU?

He said he fixed the shorted out ECU ground, I wanna know how he narrowed it down to that and how he fixed that.

when i first fried the ground the car wouldnt run worth s**t, then i did some research and found a post about the ECU ground, i took out the ECI and looked and the very end where the ground is located and there it was, the very very thin piece of copper was fried off so i had to(with steady hands) solider on another piece of speaker wire LOL, then i put it back in an it ran liek normal, then the TPS and MAP didnt have power, so i gotta take out the ecu again and check out those pins, which i did end up finding on another site,

MAP Pin(aka barometric pressure sensor)-85
TPS Pin-84

Hmm, so I may have to solder the ground back on? I guess I'm gonna be taking my ECU out tonight. Now I know who to run to when/if I find out that I fried the ground to the ECU

I'm thinking this is the issue, my car won't run worth a crap, and my battery keeps getting drained.

Yep dude, that's exactly what's been burned on my ECU. Wow, well I'm sorry I couldn't help you out on your thread, but I'm sure glad you were willing to help me out even though I sorta hi-jacked your thread. Thanks a bunch man.

What kind of power are you looking for at the TPS? There isn't a 12V input to that. There is a 12V input to the MAF, but it's the same circut the CMP, and CPS run on. It would help a whole bunch if you could say what wires you are having a problem with.

F.Y.I.

My ECU had an issue with the voltage regulator (which is internal to the ECU in my case) and needed to replace it. I found these guys on ebay and did a swap for just $199. They send you a rebuilt and updated ECU, which you will install and verify everything is in working order, then send your old one to them w/ a pre-paid UPS label.
