Manual Transmission Question

So I ordered the part I needed for my transmission, and I noticed a slight difference in the two parts.

Below is a picture of the new/old parts and the significant difference circled.

I need to put on the new part because the other side on the new one is chewed up too much. Think that I could put it on?

I would try it if it doesn't leak then use it.
