What are some things that I can do to make sure theat my engine will stay reliable and keep on going ? I plan on making 400 plus awhp on my 7 bolt. So far I plan on getting a cosmetic 4 layer head gasket and ARP head studs. What else would I need to keep it reliable ?

1. Take care of all the maintenece.......be anal about it.
2. Research...........make sure the parts you choose compliment each other in respect with your goals.
3. Log frequently, adjust tune as required.................if the tune is the best possible, higher HP running will be less stressful on the motor.
4. Maintenance.

7. Did I mention maintenance?

One thing i'd like to add to montoya's post....
You need to keep the maintenance in check. Not sure if he mentioned that or not.

I was just thinking, will i NEED a new head gasket and arp head studs ? I plan on running like 20 psi.

Yes, to prevent the studs from stretching and blowing out a headgasket. While you got the head off, check both the head and block for flatness, as anything out of tolerance will cause you to blow out a headgasket, which could lead to alot of problems down the road.

There is no need for that if you're only running 20psi as long as the system is properly tuned. 400 WHP on the other hand would be a different story.
