A few days ago i tried to put on my new megan racing 3" downpipe/testpipe/catback. I ran into a problem with the downpipe because my stock o2 housing holes were hacked alittle. This is when i decided to order the megan racing SS o2 housing and a new sensor. I have a timing belt kit/water pump just waiting to be changed. So my brother and me decided to pull the motor 124k 6bolt since it would be easier to to the timing kit, meanwhile i also have a brand new act 2600 and xact flywheel that needs to be put in. New valve cover gasket(oil is leaking down the left side of block.) We also decided to change the motor mounts to polyurethane mounts. Kyb Agx + Prokits will also be installed. I will also be changing the exhaust manifold(FP Race or the GT HighFlow,) and studs because the old one has a crack and one stud is broken. Now what i want to know is while the engine is out, what other important maintenance should i do? This is a daily driven 14b stock boost car, maybe in the near future it will see fuel upgrades, and some tuning.

MLS head gasket and arp studs is a must in my book if you're gonna go through all that work to pull the motor and do all that. I would also recommend you just changing all the gaskets in car while you're at it cause you'll have easy access to everything with the motor out.

yea if ## gonna build ## motor later on down the road then id do the balance shafts for sure and chage ## crank seals like ## fron and rear mains

my bad im used to yahoo anyways i would defenitly do the balance shaft eleminating if you plan on building it later on and i would do the front and rear main saels on the crank:thumb:

If the motor's out, the possibilities of spending money are somewhat endless....depending on how far you plan on going with your build.

When the clutch is out, be sure to change the rear main seal. This job cannot be done without pulling the tranny and removing the flywheel, and with a car that's 18 years old I'm sure it's hard as a brick.

The balance shaft elim kit is a great idea as well. Saves the possibility of a broken belt spoiling your fun later on down the road!

Personally, I would pull the head and change the valve seals and upgrade to head studs and a Multi-Layer Steel gasket as well. While the head's off and the oil pan's down, you might as well push the pistons up through and install new rings and bearings!

As you can see, it's hard to draw the line....but with a fresh engine and clutch, the rest of your build is ready to begin!
