I love the sound of magnaflow exhausts and I want to get one for my n/t talon but first I was wondering how many of you guys are running magnaflow? And what kind of set ups do you guys have?

I can't afford a full exhaust but I want to buy a muffler and weld a cheap tip on there. What muffler would make the deepest tone on a n/t car? Because I've heard that straight through mufflers would sound ricey and I would like to stay as far away from a fart can as possible which is why I want to go with magnaflow. I want to get rid of that raspy sound so I want sort of a baffled a low tone, yet I don't mind it being loud at all. What muffler would be best for this?

I've been looking at the xl 3 chamber because it's well priced an I've heard decent things about it but I want your guy's opinion on magnaflow mufflers and what muffler would be best for a n/t car. All I want is a muffler and a single 3" tip.

Thanks in advance. And yes I did post this on dsmtalk swell. So sorry if you feel asthough I am annoying you. I just thought it would be better if I posted it here too

Any aftermarket muffler on a n/t will get you more sound. You could peice together the parts on ebay, and save a few bucks there.Or have a local exhaust shop make you a exhaust from the manifold.I myself would get the manifold, then the rest of the exhaust.

A oval muffler will deaden the sound, it does become a noise disturbance if cruising not in 5th gear, and trying to listen to radio. So oval muffler for less sound, round for more sound.

FYI don't just hack off the muffler and put a new aftermarket muffler on please!!!!!

I say that cause it is typical ricer behavior. In the 90's if you had an exhaust the car was not stock. Now everybody and their mothers focus has just an aftermarket muffler.

If you want a tad more power, gas milage go header back.If you want to be like everybody else, go catback or just muffler.I'm not trying to be a dick but it's the truth.

What kind of sound are you going after? I ran a Flowmaster with 3" cat-back on my 89 240sx N/A and it sounded beautifully if you ask me. Just another option for you to consider.

You're not being a dick LOL I understand what you're saying and I appreciate the response but the reason I only want muffler is because I don't want to spend big bucks on an exhaust system because my ar has really really high km. And I don't want to spend that much money only to have it crap out after a year.

Ya flowmaster would be fine too, they have a nice deep tone to them also.

When I had my 420a eclipse I had a 2 1/2 inch exhaust with a magnaflow muffler sounded real ricey. I soon ditched the muffler and just ran a resinator with a tip. No more ricey noise on the top end.

i got a magnaflow on my 92 tsi and its sounds good but im upgrading to full 3' so il be removing it soon not sure if its the same routing as yours but i got 2.5' piping after my down pipe to the magnaflow muffler if your intrested
