So ill be buying my DSMlink v3 full soon, and I've decided I'm going to go with a MAFT instead of speed density. Now i've been shopping around for MAFT and a 3" GM maf on ebay. The MAFT is 199 shipped, and I'll be getting the GM maf from the Junkyard. My question is, when i buy the MAFT what cable will i need to hook it up to the stock MAF connector??? Does it come with it?? From looking at the pictures of the MAFT i see the cable that plugs into the GM maf, but i cant see how it plugs into the stock MAF connector. This is the link for the MAFT MAF Translator DSM 2G Eclipse Talon 3000gt Stealth TT | eBay

If you're getting ECMlink, then you don't need a translator. ECMlink sells the adapter cable on their website, which will run straight from the GM maf to the stock connector.

Edit: Beat me by less than a minute...

Awesome LOL, i saw that adapter cable on ebay as well. Ill be getting my MAFT before my DSMlink due to budget. In the mean time i would like to run the MAFT on the stock ECU, to do this should it come with the correct wires i need? I'd rather not have to cut and splice the stock connector.

So after talking with the tuner, he said just hold off with the MAFT, he said just to get the GM MAF and wait for the DSMlink to just run the straight cable and tune completely with DSMlink. Good to know, thanks for the help though

Youll love it its simple to hook up then you can begin tuning it and even go speed density if you choose, ill be doing sd later this spring. Finall i can take advantage of ecmlink with my new setup and awd.

Maft is garbage.

I'll respond to your 3rd grade response with another 3rd grade response. You're Garbage. My maft was the best mod i made to my car. Getting rid of the 2g maf made another 100whp for me. Infact more than I made on SD, without the hassle of the VE maps. It's so stable I could take the wideband off my car and continue to tune it.

You'll need to tap a wire for a tach signal, but it should come with the correct connector for the MAF plug.

Only if you use the maft to tune with. I run it just to "translate" the signal, and tune with my ostrich.

The only drawback to running a maft, is the uicp is a pain to make nice.

From what I've reasearched, and from what the Tuner told me, is that a lot of people prefer Speed Density. But the GM MAF works well too. The big difference for me, is that the GM MAF will pick up a lot more little changes and make adjustments ie. Altitude, small boost leaks, where as the SD will not. I figure, I'm not going insane on my build, the engine has 3k on the rebuild with ARP headstuds, King race bearings and NPR pistons, 20G and supporting mods, I'll probly be shooting for the 400 mark if I can, and i know the GM MAF will get me there. Good to hear everyone that has one likes it.
