MAFT "purple wire" 1g

Would someone please let me know what's with the purple stripped wire on the MAFT?

I understand the white wire taps tach source. Instructions are straight forward, but they don't even mention the purple wire which is cut and bare? Also while digging I've read that you don't have to tap in the white tach wire if your running DSMLink which I have but that doesn't make sense because the MAFT is it's own unit and it needs to know engine RPM.

Please correct me if I'm wrong.

You would only need the rpm wire if you are using the maft for corrections. Most people using link just use the maft to convert the gm maf signal over to a signal that our ecu can understand. Basically aslong as your maft is "0" out(all knobs at 0 not making corrections) then you do not need the rpm wire.

If I am not mistaken the purple wire is a aux input. I am not able to verify this at the moment but I can later on in the day if someone else doesn't get to it first.
