I really need help deciding, I've searched but can't find anything. If you see one that will help me a ton. So as right now I already bought and have a maft gen 2 and gm maf ready to hook up when I find an evo3 16g. (the reason I got the maft is for better airflow and to get rid of the big maf sensor and I thought it would be good as a starter to control my fuel when I change them) I am also planning on getting v3 in the future maybe later on the year.... so my question, should I run both maft and dsmlink v3 or just get v3 dsmlink? Will it be a benefit as not just running link alone? I've heard people running the older maft and link but been looking around and haven't found too much on maft gen 2.... Future goal is for a high 3 to 400awhp range. Thanks

Your horsepower goals don't require an upgrade over the stock 2g MAS.

To answer your question : ECMLink GM MAF Cable

ECMLink (V3) provides GM MAF compensation inside the ECU. That means you can run the GM MAF straight to the ECU and have full control over the precise compensation yourself. This cable provides that connection to the ECU. But ECMLink provides the translation. Without ECMLink (V3) installed inside your ECU, this cable is not very useful to you.

Absolutely no reason to run the maft with link. Link does everything you want to do, and does it better than a maft can dream of. If you are dead set on doing the gm mas, go for it, but link and your stock 2g mas is all you need. I you were to run anything besides the stock mas, I'd choose to do speed density.

The only reason I can think of would be that they don't know any better or they were running that setup before link had presets for the gm mas. Save your money and just run the link with stock mas or on speed density. You'll be happy you did.
