So a friend of mine recommended that I try out this Lucas Fuel System Cleaner. Aside from my 98 GSX, I have a 96 Civic CX hatch as my beater/back and forth to work/saving miles on my DSM car (
)
I gave the fuel treatment on my civic, which BTW has about 180K miles on it right now. Before I tried the treatment, I was averaging around 27-29mpg. I thought that was really low for that car. So I went and bought the little bottle of that treatment at Advance Auto Parts for somewhere around $4-6. Once my gas tank was a little under a 1/4 tank left, I went to go fill up my tank. I put 1/2 the bottle in because the whole thing treats 25 gallons, then proceeded to fill up the tank.
This week for work, I had to drive to Dunkirk, NY from Little Falls, NY, where I live. I think it was about a 280 mile drive one way. Before I left at the end of the week, I added the other half of the bottle, then filled up my tank again. So by the time I get home, I should have been just about empty, which it normally has been... but I had about 3/8 of a tank left!!! So right off the bat I noticed a huge difference!
So I went and filled up my tank this morning after that drive there and back, and going through a full bottle of the Lucas Fuel Treatment, and averaged my gas mileage by taking the amount of miles I drove, divided by the gallons of gas I just put in my tank. The number I came up with, was 37.8mpg!!! I couldn't even believe it when I saw it, but that just went to prove this stuff works!!!
So now... I put it in my wife's Lancer and I'll be trying it out in my eclipse and see how it goes!!! I HIGHLY recommend this stuff if you want to try and increase your gas mileage!!!
