Lower heat shield , with or without????

I have searched and found nothing , so here we go.

I recently installed my EVO III 16G , and an external dump O2 housing.
My question is now obviously the lower heat shield will not fit , do I need to fab one up or run without it.Does anyone have any experiance , or could give me a heads up on possible failure of or melting of the fans , or alternator failure from the heat , any premature hose failure , things of that nature due to not using the heat shield?

On our local dsm board I have heard many complain about frequent alternator failures when running without a heat shield. I'd fab one up if I was you or modify the stock one if you can.

your fan will melt..... mine did.....

as far as the other items mentioned, I have had no issues with hose or alternator failure.

Been running without one for 4+ years now, 0 Problems.

Will it not fit because of the different turbine housing, or is the O2 dump in the way? If it's the O2 dump, I would just try to cut it to fit.

I don't have one nor do either of my fathers cars - no problems here. Now, if I had one I'd probably put it back on, but all that we have purchased have come without them.

Correct , it will not fit aroung the W/G dump tube portion , I think I will fab up one anyhow and save the stock one just in case.I am not so much worried about the fan , I really dont want to keep changing alternators , its allready a 13 year old car , and there are electrical connectors and such right there , those I think are my main concern.
