lower heat shield doesnt fit, melted fan

So I'm looking for a solution....

I have an ATR 02 eliminator, which does not match up with the stock lower heat shield. I tried running without the lower shield, but within a week it has melted the blades on my AC fan. What are some possible solutions (preferably other than heat wrapping, as I don't like how that looks) I've heard of some hi-temp paints that might do the trick. Any recommendations?

Well I can give you some solutions.
You can just take out the AC. Unless you really need it then you can contact http://www.jmfabrications.com/dsm.html and ask them if they can make you a lower heat shield. Explain to them about your O2 problem and maybe they can help you out with your situation on the lower heat shield. They make some really nice ex. manifold heat shields.

If you want Hi-temp. I would recommend doing a jetcoating job on your O2 because Hi-temp paint wouldn't really help as much and Jetcoating holds heat and looks better too. I got my ex. manifold jetcoated by www.jet-hot.com and they do a great job.

hi-temp paint wont do anything. You cant modify the shield so it will fit ?
Ceramic coating is an option. (ive got a a/c fan if you need one)

not sure if it will help but if I remember correctly there are "slim line" fans out there that you can replace your factory one with. These slim fans wont be as close to the exhaust manifold and thus not as susceptible to heat damage. Just something to look into

Just get some thin sheet metal, and fab up a heatshield yourself. I plan to do so when I have my turbo up and running, and I will write a guide if you want to wait for it maybe 2 weeks.

You can also do the greyforest hood mod, and that will allow much better cooling for your turbo and downpipe, which should solve the problem of the fan melting.
