I can't really decide which one would be better. Both cost around the same, I have an Fp manifold that i haven't installed yet and found a JMfab heat shield for 100 or i can get it coated for about the same with shipping. Did some searching but no one really says which one would be better.

coat it.
coating retains the heat within the mani, aiding in exh. gas velocity. Heat shield will (obviously) keep the heat from transferring into other nearby items, but does nothing for retaining heat within the manifold.

Just my 2 cents.

Well Guess I will be getting it coated, i just didn't know if ceramic really made that big of a difference for under hood temps, but after i get it coated if its still to hot i guess i could always get the shield also.

ceramic coating is the way to go.made my camaro's headers a lot cooler.so underhood temps without doubt is cooler.so i'd highly recommend the ceramic coating.got mine coated from jet-hot awesome product no doubt.

awesome well i just sent the manifold off to him so i will have to post some pics when it gets back. I am kinda interested in gettting the heat shield also and having him coat that wonder if that would make a difference.

That seems pretty cool and would look really good, but don't our manifolds get hotter than 1300?

That is exactly right, 4g63 turbo manifolds will see temperatures around 1,700 degrees F.
Chrome ceramic is only good up to around 1,200 degrees F which is exactly why we don't offer it to our customers :thumb:

that's what i thought, and non chrome ceramic can withstand spikes to 2000F right? That is why I sent my manifold to you haha and i think that the satin silver will look pretty good :thumb:

The ceramic we use is good up to 2,000 degrees F but not all ceramics are the same.

Here is a customer's FP manifold which we coated back in Nov 08
Pictue was taken July 26, 09..........about 8 months of turbocharged heat:thumb:

My god, that is beautiful. Not just the header, the whole engine bay. The fact it looks so good while being 15+ years old and keeping most of the stock accessories... wow. :hellyeah:
