Lower exhaust manifold stud

I know this has been discussed but I thought some folks might like a picture. The manifold stud does not go to a pressurized oil galley but rather to an oil drain passage in the head. Yes it will leak if not sealed. I'm not a fan of RTV for this. They make thread sealant for a reason. Here is a pic of the backside underneath the head. Some people might not get a look at this ever. It's a clean hole all the way through.

Ah yes one of those OOooooooohhh moments when someone really looks at the cylinder head
I will admit when I first heard of this stud goes through an oil galley in my first ever build, I thought it was pressurized too. I don't think I figured out it wasn't until my second build

Though I can’t find the instances right now, I’m certain I’ve probably said that before on here. The point is and always has been that it will leak if not sealed properly.

It is most appropriately a drain but people have called it a galley, gallery, port, passage, chamber, etc., over the years… There’s oil back there which is all that need be said.

Yeah but when someone (not saying you) just mentions it as an oil galley improperly, one can be led to the wrong conclusion. I was naive
I still knew it had to be sealed and never had a leak, let that just be known.
