I bought a 2g gsx that was completely stock except one thing i noticed was different. The oil feed line for the stock turbo was coming from the oil filter housing, and not the passenger side of the cylinder head..

Ive went threw 2 engines and I'm on the 3rd one now.

Engine gauge says i have great oil pressure when its first started, then when its warm and idoling the gauge reads no oil pressure.

Is there something i don't know about this mod that could be causing this low oil pressure reading while warm and idoling ?

Oil pressure seams normal for a dsm while driving, half way between 0 and 50%

I'm asking if this is normal or if i need to check something because i cannot afford another 7bolt engine.

if u wana boost oil pressure delete the balance shafts this prevents alot of internal oil pressure bleeding and it save a fair bit of hp, I have had a half dozen talons now and all of them have had low oil pressure when warm. I deleted the balance shafts and the oil pressure on the gauge stays just above half when driving and about half idling.

Do what cyclonekid77 Said, Get an after market gauge and you will know exactly how much oil pressure you are running.
If it is low then put some thicker oil to bring the pressure up.
Removing you Balance shaft would be a good way to go but would take you more time then installing an after market gauge, get the gauge, see how much pressure you have and go from there.

i thought the stock oil feed line for a 2g was from the cyclinder head like the 1g's..?

the light doesnt come one just the gague doesnt read any oil pressure when its warm and idoling .. but its great when it first starts, and half way to the half mark while driving. its like im loosing oil pressure at idol and i dont know why.

everything on the engine was replaced except the oil pump. but the pickup tube and filter was cleaned out before install.

reguardless of the gagues accuracy it should read at least 35% minium at idol. ive used the same oil filter housing on all 3 engines.. anyone got any ideas?

You thought wrong.
And you're new to 2g oil pressure gauges, they suck, many of them read pegged bottom at idle.
You need an aftermarket gauge if you want to actually know your oil pressure.

okay i guess i was wrong then, and i dont have a low oil pressure prolbem at all....

isnt there like a spring or something in the oil filter houseing i heard, thats susposed to open up durning idol speeds to increase pressure.....?

No. There's a pressure relief valve to prevent high oil pressure. Again, buy an oil pressure gauge.

how should and where should i install the after market oil pressure gague ?

also whats base oil pressure at idol on a 2g ?

Install it according to the directions that come with the gauge; source it wherever you want to monitor pressure. Mitsubishi likes the filter housing the best because this would be the first place NOT to see pressure should there be an issue with the oil pump.

Idle pressure can be as low as 10psi.

Oil pressure can go as low as 10, but normal should be 15, (Hard to say). It depends on what oil you are using. 30, 5-30, 10-10.
But 15 is the Ideal one.
You can install it from the oil filter housing like jusmx141 said.
Oil relief valve its function is only to pen when high pressure present and close when lowered, is wear but some times it gets stuck or spring is not strong enough to put up. so that. But like I said it is not common on our DSM's.

we'll ive put a gauge on it, digital. Probably not the best but at least you cant say its a stock gauge LOL.

Its in the stock location so i no longer have the stock gauge/sender.

When i start the car, oil pressure is 70-75 psi .

After is warm, it idols about 17psi

After i drive it a bit while its warm, the idle oil pressure really drops off .

most of the time if will fluctuate between 1,2,3 psi or drop right to zero some time it reads 6 or 9 .

While cruzing it can be different as well, today i seen relly low cuzing pressure, but usually its around 35psi while cruzing at 60mph.

So I need to know everything that could cause low oil pressure while warm and idoling.

Oh yah and it has died 3 times now comming to a stop!! dont know what thats all about. But it starts right back up just fine.

I'm using penzoil 10w 30.

Idol is set to 750 rpm via dsmlink all idling components are within spec and it idols smooth but I think the linkage is a little sticky on closing all the way sometimes, nothing a lil rev doesn't cure.

Idle fuel pressure could be off a little bit need to confirm this ....

Can check the o2 threw a log

Vacume on my boost gauge is steady at negative 22 at idle

I did verify that my dummy oil lite works

Ive seen it on when the key is on but never while running, So i grounded it quick while it was running to verrify the light would come on and it does.

So thats making me think the sending unit isnt accurate enough. but who knows id like to hear all possibilities.

I would like to put a T fitting where the stock sending unit is can someone point me in the right direction to get one of those that would work for putting 2 sending units in.

Okay check my last log file,it looks like the front 02 is cycling back n forth normally But there are brief periods of time the front o2 does read 0 volts but its brief and on deceleration's then is starts cycling again, i dont know if thats normal or not.

The Bov is recirculated, im using a 1g bov right now .

Umm im not sure about above 3000 rpm, but when i come up to a stop or slow way down for a turn clutch in it has died does'nt stumble just shuts off.

I have been having issues just like yours. I am going to change my oil filter and run much heavier oil. If that don't work i am going to pull the pan off roll out the main barings and take a gander. If no problems there its going to get a new oil pump. I just wonder has your car ever gotten really hot before this all occured?

If I understand corectly, you're on your 3rd engine. Did the other 2 spin a bearing or throw a rod? The only thing common between the 3 engines is the oil pump.

Since you've went through 2 other engines with that pump, ever stop to think maybe it's the problem.

I would take it to a shop and have them check the oil pressure. You need accurate readings, not that digital readouts.

If in fact your pressure is that low at hot idle, rebuild the oil pump.

Each engine has had a different oil pump, this one happens to be new.

one had valve tap so i pulled it and never checked it out, the other one threw a rod and seized, and the 3rd one beat the balance shaft bearings up.

Im going to get a mechanical gauge and find out whats going on
