Hey bud:

Its for emissions stuff and it does tick and make a lot of noise. Your MAP sensor is by your thumb in the first picture. The more you mod, the more it starts to freak out. Eventually you can remove and unplug it (keep in mind, if you do this certain emissions things will not work, EGR valve, etc... If it is removed you have to cap off the vacuum lines that went to it or remove the components all together.) I'm near 100% cretin there is no feedback loop so you wont get a direct check engine light. But it is normal operation on it to freak out now and then.

Hope this helps!

I have a ticking under certain throttle conditions too. I was pretty sure it was the fuel pressure regulator though. Most of the threads I found for ticking have pointed to that sensor in the picture. I guess I should check that one out too. My car runs fine under all throttle conditions, and idles fine. Only problem is sometimes it takes a long time to start(5 or 6 seconds of cranking). Dont know if it is related to that sensor. I thought it might be a fuel pump problem or temp sender problem. Anyway,,, it might be a good idea to use a screw driver, and pin point which sensor it is for sure. Just put the plastic handle of a long screwdriver against your ear, and use the metal end as a stethoscope. The ticking component will be loud and clear. Eventully I would like to buy a freshly rebuilt ecu that is prepped for dsm link....
