Loud pop now top wont go down or up...

Well yesterday, when i was closing the top on my spyder i heard a loud pop and i didnt really think anything of it... Now today i went to open it and it opened about a foot and then i heard the motors *werrrrrr* but the top did not move, Now it barely opens, i mean still a couple inches... when im lucky but nothing more... I was guessing that the loud pop was probably the elastic link but wouldnt the top still open just not fold? Has this ever happened to anybody? thanks guys, Spring is almost here and I want my top to be able to drop.

thanks wret... ur clutch... and after a winter that weeee had!! 40-50 degree weather is warm enough to drop it! I was droppin it in 28degree weather!! haha it was fine for me with the heat on it the front seats its not that bad... cant say the same for my friends in the back seat... i think they froze especially wen i was on the high way
