"Stock 96 eclipse gst."
Just bought it and i dont know much about imports.Im an american muscle guy who bought a eclipse because this is the body style i love and i cant stand a Honda. So you might need to explain things to me as if i were a child about these cars.haha.

Idles fine, temp is fine, rpms are fine, fluids are fine, boost gauge says its fine, no leaks on anything.

check engine light is on but i dont have a scanner to run codes and not sure if theres a manual way to do it like other cars by watching flashing engine like and counting.

symptoms:
only when driving it, itll feel like one of the spark plug wires is arcing out and power will cut out slightly, itll still drive but u can feel the loss of power and a sputter "slight vibration". If i let off the throttle and let the rpms drop to idle then get back on the accelerator itll be fine again.

Ive checked for cut or cracked wires "none"
checked spark plugs "good"
tried checking vaccum lines but theres so many and i have no clue what they are all for so im a loss there. but so far they look fine.

So i know there probably numerous answers and questions for me and ill try my best to answer them and understand ## answers.

Like i said, im a noob to the import world so i hope u bare with me.

Thanks

Get some sort of logger or something to scan codes with, could be wires boost leak, a number of things. Look at the threads here you will find information once you look around.

What makes things hard is im new to the area and i dont know anyone with a scanner nor do i have the extra cash at this time to go to a shop.LOL.

ok thank you ill give em a call to see. i wasnt sure ### i owned a 71 chevelle for the past 11 yrs and never had to use computers and such.LOL. someone told me to also check the MAF, would that also cause those symptoms?

ok i borrowed a obd2 scanner, ill be testing it tomorrow and let you all know what i find. i also bought some MAF spray cleaner, cant hurt right? LOL

CODES: P0300 and P0403 came up.

The flashing engine light for reading codes is only on the 2gNT.

First put in new NGK BPR6ES plugs (don't use any other brand/type - our 2gs like those particular NGK ones).

Then pull plug cables, connect an analog (with needle) ohmmeter across each one, and bend the cable in all directions watching needle to see if it moves (indicating an intermittent breakage).

Are there any dsm owners in So Cal that might be able to take a peak? Im in Santa Ana

Ok so i went and tried to buy the NGK Plugs but they needed to order them so i bought the autolite copper 63 that someone said to use along with the NGK. I also cleaned my MAF.
i scanned for codes again and now my engine light is off and no codes. after reading posts i didnt think it would stay clear so i took it around town and up n down the highway cruising it and pushing it a little. came home after about an hour and still no codes. time will tell tho. i have no stumbling thru any part of my rpms, i only took it to 6rpm tho "didnt want to test it". i found a bunch of bare wires, i used black tape to cover them up for now and i also found something i have no clue about. it is on the driver side near the firewall. has a plug with wires and underneath it has a vaccum line that goes to if i remember correctly my intake. on one end of it theres a mitsu symbol on a knob that can turn. can anyone tell me what that is? it wasnt bolted to anything and it was just hanging behind my motor. Thanks

If there is somethiing that has a knob and you can twist. I am willing to bet its not stock. Youre best bet, is take a picture and post it here for better and quicker results. Youre description was a little vague.

Also, did you end up fixing the stumbling? Youre better off ordering some ngk oem cables and some bpr6es ngk and gap them either .020 or .028. Try either one. You can get them from a number of sites, extremepsi, jnz tuning, stm. Etc. Keep us posted. Beautiful car by the way and welcome to youre new found love!!!!!

Take pictures of this knob you are talking about and post them so we can figure out what it is.

ok update, in another thread i posted someone told me it was my fuel solenoid and that the knob was just a cover and it didnt matter if it was turned.LOL. as for the stumbling, yes its still running smooth with no codes, no power loss. yay.LOL

it looks EXACTLY like that :) Thanks. i dont know how to post pictures onto the thread. so thank you more making it easy for me

I have a stock MAF and according to the links I am not supposed to recirculate my BOV

Oh I would recirculate that BOV. Dumping it to atmosphere can cause some crappy drivability issues. Especially with the stock MAF. BUt beautiful GST and I hope you fixed your other issues:thumb:

Ok, So I went out and removed that restrictor sleeve in the WasteGate from the bottom hose. Took it for a spin and to my surprise the car felt better. I didn't think it would make that much difference. Good Times!
