I posted last week about the car misfiring and hesitating. Put the good ngk plugs in it gaped to .28. car ran great. now its back and worse. I bought this car about a week ago. upon driving it home it had about 10lbs of boost. then i noticed the other day it was only boosting about 8. now I cant get more than 7lbs. I did do a leak test and noticed a small leak at the throttle body. very minimal leak. I was told thats pretty typical. Today when driving home from work the car was breaking up bad. when i stopped at my house it would idle surge really bad. traveling between 500 and 1000 rpm. almost wanting to stall. Im clueless. car came with 2g maf, 2g exhaust manifold and rc550 injectors. He said he tuned with maft and safc but arent those supposed to stay with the car after tuning?

Stay with car? Well it should but if its not, take it all off and make it stock again. Get rid of the upgrades and return to stock.

I meant the maft and safc. dont they need to stay in the car after tuning? or can you tune it and remove the maft and safc? I plan to swap the 550's with my buddies 450's since hes upgrading. were gonna throw the data logger on it tmrw and see whats up.

The safc to tune the injectors but if its back stock 450s leave it that way. The maft should be there are tuning devices if there gone you have problems because the car isnt stock anymore get the logger, maft translator right? and the safc to tune the car.
2g maft you need that if you have more fuel. Safc to help out.

I just talked to the guy I got it from. he said he didnt use a maft or safc because the 2g maf and 550's are almost a perfect tune together. Is this true? can you just throw a 2g maf and 550's on a stock car with no tuning?

Mind you Im not throwing any codes

now the car barely runs. bad lope at idle. I ran compression and its low. about 120 +/- on all cylinders. So I checked timing. Its hard for me to see the mark on the crank pulley, but what I did notice is when I line the marks up on the cam sprockets no matter how many times I rotate the crank the #1 piston is never at tdc. I would presume that if the timing is off it will read low compression. am I right?
