Looking to Buy GSX! Questions!!

I am looking at buying a 1991 Mitsu Eclipse GSX. It is a 5spd with the abs option. I haven't seen the car in person, but i have some questions.

The guy who is selling says that it has a rebuilt engine and I would like to know if that engine would still be reliable. I also want to know what kind of miles I can expect to put on a 1G enigine before problems start??

Should I look into buying it or should I find something else??

Rebuilts are usally a good thing. You might want to ask who did the rebuild, IE him or a pro... As long as it's professionally done or the guy knew what he was doing these engines can run as short as 55,000 miles and as much as 250,000 miles... I've personally had one of each! (!). What's he asking for it would be a better question... $3500 is about the top end unless it's something special, rebuilt might make it worth $4500 based on the mileage after rebuilding and who did it.

He is asking $2495 which isn't too pricy. I just wanted to know becuase I know alot about cars but DSM is new to me and I jsut needed some information becuase I know that these cars have alot of potential with some mods.


What do you think about the price??
