Looking to buy a DSM

Heya guys im new to your fantastic forum

anyways im looking into buying a DSM ...probobly a 1G Talon I got about $4-5,000 Canadian Eh

I going to check a few private sales out next week and I was wondering if anyone has any "tips" or things to look for when checking out a DSM...

When I talk to my buddies about DSM cars its like they are the "freak" breed of car ..but they drive Rx-7's soo ill take that for what its worth.

Ive heard that the maintainence of these cars are high and costly..but ill check into that more.

Hah, the RX-7 people talking about the DSM as a FREAK car. That's a good one!

As far as high maintaining the car, well just do regular oil changes and a good tuneup when you recieve it and you will be good. It is a car like others, just needs alittle more attention because of it being a turbocharged car. JUST like an RX-7. The engines are soo different it is not funny.

Now, as for the looking for when buying question. I would look for and listen too these things.

Paint overspray
Transmission grinds (2nd gear is a good judge)
Transmission leaks
Turbo shaft play (remove the intake pipe and check side to side)
Lifter ticking
Last timing belt change
Interior Wear
ALL of the creature comforts (power windows, locks, A/C, etc.)

I would also do a compression test just to make sure the motor won't need a rebuild any time soon.
