lookin at 1st gen has idle problem

Im lookin at a first gen gsx prob will end up buyin it in the next few days has a intercooler hardpipes full 3 inch exaust.who ever had owned the car before cut the muffler off and ghetto rigged a flowmaster muffler on the end of it.The car also has a hks wastegate also has a big 16g from what I can tell ,cai and gm sensor ,safc1 and hks electronic boost controller it has a boost guage put in but no wideband when you crank the car it revs to 3 grand and holds for about 5minutes until the engine warms up but drops to about 1800-2000rpms.Could anyone point me in the right direction of what it could be tryed to get a test drive but said he would have to go with me and he was the only one there.As with any old car it has a bunch of little problems here and there that need to be fixed that I plan to if I get it,but overall its in okay shape.

This might be a dumb suggestion.. have you checked the BISS screw?

I found that the FAIV (Fast air idle valve) on my 1g dsm is a problem, and causes idle surge and could be a be adding to your surging. Car would rev up and down until exactly the 1/4 point on your temp gauge. A easy way to check your intake manifold for air leaks would be to spray TB cleaner around your intake manifold and see if the rpm changes. I replaced my Intake manifold gasket and fixed "some" of the idle surge and high / low rpm surges.

Of coarse, if or when you decide to buy said car at least there's alot of information in this site to help aid you.

My car had a similar problem. I had a bad isc. I replaced it with a good isc and put in a FIAV blockoff plate to fix the cold start high idle. Test isc w ohmeter to see if it's bad

i would do what they said and replace the isc, happened to me too
