Locked up

So heres what happened. Earlier today my lower balljoint on my passenger side popped out and i drove it about 100 yards back to my shop put it back on and said screw lunch im gonna go back to work. After work I went to Jimmy johns and as i was leaving all 4 wheels locked up on me WTF is wrong. T-case?

Look at the area around your t-case for splattered fluid. If you find any evidence it was leaking, then it's pretty much safe to say that was your problem.

well there was fuild there but thats because my powersteering line that conets to the rack and pinion is leaking.

Remove the T-case (takes about 2 hours if it's your first time, or 45 minutes if you've done it before) and try to spin it. If you can spin it with your fingers it's good. If not, it's most likely dead. You can also check the fluid level by topping it up. If it takes little or no fluid it's good, if it takes a lot of fluid it's most likely dead.

My wheels locked up about 2 weeks ago. Had to replace the T-Case.

Chances are it's the T Case. If you need instructions I can post up step by step how to take it off and put it back on. With diagrams. If you plan to do it yourself and need help there's a lot of cool guys in Minnesota with experience. They post on dsmstyle.com

It's not that hard. I did it for the first time all by myself. Here are the instructions to remove it.

1. Remove the downpipe.
2. Unbolt the 5 t-case bolts (2 up top 3 on the bottom)
3. Separate the t-case from the tranny. Just pull on it till it comes loose. Make sure the car is well supported for this step otherwise you can kill yourself.
4. Once it comes loose from the tranny it will drop to the ground (watch your fingers and hands). Then just pull forward to separate it from the drive shaft. Done!

Install in in reverse order. Make sure you grease everything up nicely (input and output shaft). You'll have to use a hammer to tap it into the tranny because all the grease will prevent it from sliding in easily. Just tap on it lightly until in goes flush with the tranny. Then just bolt it back up.

It did to me.

I tell you, when you're ripping down the highway and all of a sudden without warning all 4 wheels lock up ... your ass puckers up so tight that if there were coal in it you'd have a diamond.

So i talked to the guys at the shop where my car is at. they said they were ab;e to drive it but it was like studdering and the head tech there had a 1g that did th same thing to him and he is saying its the trans. what do you guys think?

Ask them about the fluid level in the T-Case if it's low then it's a pretty good sign it's the T-Case. I can't help you with the trans. Mine's been good so far (knock on wood)
