So i'm sure my very experience builder will read this LOL but he claimed that the PR kit is only good for 350 to 400whp max
Now, that'd be all fine n dandy if i hadn't ran my PTE 5558 at 33psi, loggin over 50lbs/min. See, that's quite a bit over 350whp. I was NOT running 93, only summer blend e85. Stock piled it and logged the highest flow with very minimal knock at ambients of 50 to 60 degrees.

Just would love to hear some PR users that can give an example of what they've ran, lbs/min means more but if you have dyno'd it that's even better

He's suggesting the top of the line 3.5" 'ultra" ETS kit to meet my goals of ~60lb/s min on a FP black setup.

What do y'all think? Money well spent or money out the window?

I've seen 60lbs/min+ through their 1g version. I did not have an iat installed to see if the intercooler was actually working though. This was on e85.

Generally the cheaper intercoolers aren't flow limited, they actually flow really well. They are limited by their size and design how much heat they can remove from the air.

Before I made the jump from my p.r to ets I was logging 65lbs/min with my hx40 iats would hit around 115-117 on a hot 95+ degree day during a 1-4 pull. That's pretty good, my ets is around the same but I'm running more boost now and higher lbs/min.

Yea.....that's really good. I kind of can't deny what i've seen on my own car and what my builder is telling me. They don't jive LOL. I had a feeling the PR kit was good for around 550 or so.
I don't have a tight budget, by any means, but the ETS for my current goals seems like an overwhelming waste of ~$1200. If you flowed 65lbs and iats were like that my iats at 60lbs on a black would probably be extremely similar.

I would say so. The only reason I upgraded is because I knew it was going to flow more. It may have been enough but it was during my winter upgrades and I just bought it. I would say you will be fine. There are more guys running holsets that have the p.r kit. They are not a bad budget kit at all.

If your temps barely increase from the beginning to end I want that intercooler. It all depends on your set-up. For me I have seen temps as high as 128 at the end of a pull that's why I swapped but I was pushing the set-up. More boost more hot air. It is by no means abnormal. I would say north of 130 its time to swap the intercooler for a more efficient one but everyone has there own opinion. This is of course when ambient temps were dang near 100 degrees. There is always meth injection as well to help out. I ran that and my iat would stay steady at 74 degrees bye bye knock.

Yes, i logged my 50+lb/min pulls with e85, summer blend. I will never run 93 in this car except as "maintenance". I was on maf so no IAT sensor as well. It seems like an unwarranted purchase, IMO. I just wanted to confirm i hadn't forgotten EVERYTHING in the year i've been out of DSMs. I was pretty sure i've seen people running the PR/VRSF kits well over 400whp.
My end goal is 500whp. Thats going awd and through and automatic now so i needed to either step up to t3 or go with a bigger more efficient dsm flanged turbo. The black is cheap as dirt and has put down some impressive numbers for a lot of people. Buying that and an fp mani.

Thanks for the input bro

Im not pushing this setup hard, 56mm hx40 at 28 psi and 49lbs/min I actually see my intake temp drop a degree or two then go up about 2-3 degrees, from 1st to the top of 3rd gear pull, staying +/- 3 degrees from 114 when it is 95 to 100 ambient. Its just a ebay long route fmic. I may switch to the PR short route kit if it can handle over 60lbs/min like you guys say, I really dont like the long route.
