Hey guys, I have 95 eagle talon tsi and recently the car started to tick or knock. When I start the car it automatically start to ticking and when I rev the motor around 2000rpm the knock doesn’t disappear. So I decide to pull each spark plugs one by one from each cylinder trying to isolate the noise but the ticking/knocking noise is the same. If you guys would like a video I will post it as soon as possible. I’m a college student I don’t really want to spend a lot on rebuilding motor but my heart will always be with this DSM, and I wouldn’t trade or sell my dsm even if the motor is toast. :talon::cry::hellyeah:

I have 1g lifters and had ticking for a minute on a cold start. When it was time to change the oil, I added seafoam to the engine and let it idle for a while, then changed the oil and also added some marvel mystery oil. I haven't had lifter tick in a very long time but I also soaked them in acetone when I rebuilt my head. It's been a very long time since I've had lifter tick.

Put your hand on the injectors when it's ticking and you may feel it to confirm it's lifter and not rod knock. You will feel injector pulse also.

Thank you for advice, On Friday I will purchase sea foam and let the car idle for a bit also I will do a oil change plus add a bit of marvel mystery oil as well afterward. Hopefully with your tip on plusing injector feedback will confirm my issues. I will updated you guys on the results and thank you for the feedback

wow that is louder than any lifter tick i have ever heard, including my own haha. rivals or beats when all 16 are bled after a top end rebuild or cam swap. i would be pulling the valve cover and testing for a collapsed lifter.
it is a very tight sound and has a higher pitch than i would normally attribute to rod knock, but before throwing various fluids at it, perhaps do a visual inspection.

you will need to follow the standard valve cover gasket cleaning and reinstallation procedures.

Just because I had some extra time after college I decide to dive into the motor and I took off the valve cover and I notice cylinders 1 intake camshaft is a worn down. Then I check my rocker arm and they’re tight.

I agree that doesn't sound like lifter tick. I'd look into the second picture also. Camshaft isn't making contact with the rocker.
