after several months of downtime (due to impatience, lack of knowledge, sheer stupidity, and the fact that i own a DSM) i am almost to the point of getting my car running again. to start it all off, in january i broke a timing belt (ebay special<---stupidity) and bent several valves. so i decided to go with 1mm oversized valves not knowing that more than just cutting valve seats was involved (lack of knowledge). i asked a friend of mine to help me with it, but he had some big block chevy heads and intake he was working on, so he showed me what to do on one bowl. i borrowed some tools and went at it (impatience). i decided while i had the cutting tool, that i would go ahead and port the exhaust, and got carried away (stupidity/lack of knowledge). after several sessions of welding and cutting to reshape the port, i finally got it back. so i had today off, and decided to put the head back on and the camshafts back in. before i took anything apart at the beginning of this, i took pictures. if i had looked at my pictures i would have seen that i was attempting to install the intake camshaft bearing caps 180 degrees wrong. as i got halfway through hand tightening them, and putting some balls into it, i thought "this doesnt seem right," and referenced my camera. i almost crapped my pants when i looked at it. i removed the caps and saw that i had gouged the inside of the bolt holes in the caps with the guides in the head, and had mis-shaped some of the guides. i straightened them out as best i could and got rid of any burs on the caps. thankfully the cam still turns, i dont know if its my mind tricking me, but it doesnt seem to turn quite as easily as the exhaust cam, but still springs into place after a 1/4 turn. also, i could not find any torque specs or sequences for these caps, as i searched here, other dsm forums, and google, and came up with nothing. chiltons manual only shows sequence for the chrysler 2.0 DOHC motor, but not the 4g63.
