Sooo due to circumstance I am thinking about just ordering a long block, swapping it, break it in tune it and calling it good.

The current engine needs a full rebuild and I don't feel comfortable doing it myself and it has to be done in two weeks and then drive half way across the country to OK from GA where I am now stationed.

So I am thinking just order a long block, pull the old engine stick it in there and yay. Just looking for a plain jane but good long block, nothing special other than stronger rods and balance shaft elem.

I believe JNZ also sells engines now as well.

I was talking with Lucas from English Racing the other day and he was telling me he was going to start offering long or short blocks for sale. His turnaround time is pretty quick so you might want to give him a call.

Let me clairify. I am in Iraq right now, and wont be back for another 9 months. My old man is the one that would be droping the block in place and hooking up the basic's. So I think two weeks is reasonable. That when when I get there I just finish hooking up stuff, add fluids and go though start up procedures. Check timing and take it for a test drive.

At least thats what I am thinking. Figure the 1000 mile trip back to OK will be a good break in.

It's either going to be that or I will just have him rebuild the current engine for me over the winter. The only thing that concerns me there is the little tricks of the trade I don't think my father is aware of on 4G63 engines. That being said he has put togeather countless Chevy V8's in his time (63yr old GM Tech) but a 4G63 is nothing like a SB Chevy. Things like a BS elem, and getting trouqe dead nuts on concern me a tad. Though I may go this route as I could get more parts / mods to the engine and pay less. Looking at about 3k vs 5k with a lot more done. Still weighing my options at the moment. But when my Bonus check comes in (13,000) then I guess I will get ready to make a plunge one way or the other.

Thanks for the info guys, I will check out these other shops and there pricing.
