Ok well i'm in a ROP Law class at HS, and we're starting to get into the part about cars, whats legal, etc. We've watched a couple short film things, and they poinnted out a AFRP on a honda as being illegal, and a oil filter thing, ignition system, and intake all being illegal. In California what mods are legal and not? Are like a Dejon or Extremepsi intake gonna be legal? Discuss.

sorry cant help with CA but in SC anything having to due with increasing your horse power is illegal. I believe there is a thread started about this in the newbie must read section. My best friend is a state trooper had he informed me of the law. Even changing your stock air filter. They dont pull you over for it, unless your street racing.

I don't live in California...but unless it has a CARB sticker, it's illegal. And sometime you get flack even with a CARB sticker.

In Texas I have only been hit once for a cone filter at the inspection place. They said it had to be factory. Went home, put the factory box back on, 15 min later I had a new sticker. 15 min later the cone filter was back on. Then once at Firestone I got nailed for the car being too low, they said it had to be at least 24" to the center of the headlights, fortunatly they put a stick to it before they started the process and I just left without oweing anything.

Of course I don't go to either one of those places anymore, and have not had any problems since.

The Dejon and ExtremePSI intakes are illegal. I called Dejon before ordering mine and they said they are not CARB certified and not going through the process. They said most people just use the CARB no from the air filter. I doubt that'll fly with some cops/testers. Injen is expensive, but they are CARB certified. The K&N FPIK is also CARB ceritfied

So my best bet if I get pulled over with mods is to just make sure I keep the stock everything? And put it back on if its "illegal"?

Yep. You'll need it IF a cop ever pulls you over and they send you to a referee for inspection. I only have the intake pipe and BOV currently on my car. That'll take only a few minutes to change back to stock.

Yah all I have is the BOV and LICP. got the stock up in the garage.

Just like most of the guys said, if it doesn't have a CARB sticker on it, it's illegal in CA.

I have an Extreme PSI Intake, Greddy Pipes, Type-S BOV, Megan DP cut &
flanged for a 3" CARB & OBDII High Flow Catalytic Converter, to a 3" K-Teller Pipe kit with a 3" Megan Racing Turbo Muffler.

3rd shop I found, I asked, "hey man, can you take a look at this and tell me if you see any problems?"
He said "oh wow, nice Valve Cover", then he proceeded to look around, and I pointed out the obvious like the Charcoal Can line
recirculating into the intake, Valve Cover into intake, BCS into intake, and I told him straight up that I didn't have any CARB Stickers,
and then he said, I don't see any problems with smogging it.
Non of my parts that I listed are CARB legal in CA.
My car sat for about 20 mins before he put it on the rollers, and she passed perfectly.

They are expensive, especially the Injen intake.
The Extreme PSI Intake is exactly the same thing, with a better filter IMO.

The reason why the Injen Intake is more expensive is because Injen had to
payoff the CARB in order for them to give their intakes a CARB #. J/K
