leds in vent

Well for the left hand vent I ran the wires under the dashboard by the pedals, then they went past the shifter area, then they ran to a little switch in the compartment that your elbow rests on (I don't know if theres a name for that). For the right hand side I basically did the same thing except the wires ran under the glove box. The center vents wires ran down the dash to the shifter area to the switch. For a power supply I attached them to a fuse, I think there attached to the rear defroster fuse. I'm going away till sunday but Ill try to post pics of the wire placement when I get back. It took like 45 min to do each set, its not to hard either. Well I hope this helps a little and good luck

hey guys im back i was on vacation. i like the idea below the cd player ill have to do that , but im just going to drill 2 or 3 holes, thats what i shouldhave dont in the moddle vent, drill in the bottom so it reflects off the top.

as for the wireing a long time ago when i was an idiot i ran my boost guage from the center ash tray light all the way over so i just tapped in there so they go on with my lights i used 3 leds i didnt do the speical holder i just stuck em in there and they stay

so thats all for now i got my uic s pipe in and installed and my boost cntroller is almost made just need the nut so ttyl

I went and did my center vents on my 1g, but I cant figure out how to get the drivers and passenger side vents off. It looks like I need to take the dash off and I don't really want to do that.

Does anyone know how to get at the 1g side vents?

I used 4 superbright 5000mcd LEDs. I'll get some night pics later

I did mine with one varad flashing led... center of the vent, and slightly filed to frost the bulb

wired to accessory on the stereo, with the cut off wire on the ignition + wire so it will shut off when I am driving.

Damn it man, you broke the chain of 2g owners putting lame llights in their vents!

I think it would look alot better if it was a more even spead of light, like if the inside of the air ducts were reflective and the lights were farther back so you can't see them from where you sit.

Haha...someone had to do it.

What I should have done is sanded the LEDs flat so the light wasn't so focused. That gives a much better glow. I might get around to that sometime.

ok i had an idea to hook some then up to go on with the door or if you swich a swich it goes on too, i would do this with all the speicality lights except the not to bright ones just with the lights but would that work? or would stuff blow up?

I think he is wondering if there is a way to hook them up so when you open the door they come on or have them all on one switch so they come on together. he also asked be doing either of those would it cause anything to "blow up".

yeah, sorry i was tired, but i was wanting to hook up a light to the door light and also have it so i could swich it on with the door closed. but would this make the door lights all come on, or bolw up the light from getting double voltage?

well nm about the last posts, they didn't go so well

anyway I took the center vent apart and drilled holes on the top (on the bottom the first try)oops, and stuck the leds in there, now I cant see the leds and its more of a glow

and for 5 MM leds a 13/16 bit worked great

So does the panel with the center vent just pop off with a flathead screwdriver? I tried doing this mod today, but I felt like I was going to break that panel off. Thanks

It does just pop out with a flathead but there is a cable on the right side that you have to detach before you can pull that peice all the way out.There are also the wiring harnesses to whatever switches you have in that panel itself that need to be disconnected.
