Blue interior LEDs

That looks awesome i cant wait to do something like that with mine.
did you use individual leds or an led strip on the 6x9 speakers?

The 6x9, and the 5.25, came with blue LEDs built in. It's just a matter of running a power and ground to the spade connectors that come with it. Sad to say they're now collecting dust, along with everything in that car, haha.

Thanks everyone.

Did you make this led strip yourself? What kind of leds did you use to make it? I tried to do mine a couple weeks ago but it was so freakin hard to get the strip to squeeze in there.

Yes i made it myself. I used 1206 SMD blue LEDs. They are tiny, the dimensions are 3.2 x 1.6 x 1.1mm. It did take a lot of work but it came out good.

I like it!! How hard is it to keep the blue from bleeding around the needle? Can you adjust brightness? It looks like it'll blind you at night.

It's not that bright in person but the factory dimmer can dimmer them if they are to bright. The center needles are not all the way on in the picture so i'm not sure how much will bleed after they are on all the way.

I want to do this so bad but just don't have the confidence with soldering the LED's in, I want to put in some bright white LED's so maybe I will eventually man up and try it out.

Just use the plug-n-play ones for the time being. Blue or red are both good alternatives to that orange we normally have.

Okay so I did a bunch of searching a while ago for people who did blue LED interior lights, and didn't come up with too many pictures of the finished product; or they used individual LEDs and soldered them in. Now for those with no soldering skills(like me), this wasn't really a viable option. I had read Rodent's write up on using plug-n-play LEDs bought from superbrightleds.com, and the red looked great in one of my cars, but I didn't want it in both. So I tried blue, and this is the end result. Figured anybody still messing around with this stuff could benefit from some decent photos of how it will turn out.

I didn't get around to modifying the 921-bulb for the gear selector, or the on/off LEDs for the cruise control; but, you get the idea.

I'm not too sure if this is in the right section, so I apologize in advance if it isn't.

Awesome! I am looking to do the same thing to mine. Sorry for such an idiot question but how many bulbs did it take? And what all kinds did you have to use? Thanks :thumb:

Looks amazing. I wanna do the same to mine. Which bulbs did you need for the ignition, cigarette lighter abd the center console [small part beside cupholder]. ? Also how many would I need for the HVAC and the Mirror control section? Thanks in advance.

Not sure why you want to take the steering wheel cover off. Do you mean the steering column cover? I assume that's what you mean, so you can get to the ignition switch light?

If so there are 3 or 4 holes underneath the column cover and all you need is a longer #2 phillips screwdriver. The tilt handle gets in the way a little after you take the screws out.
