leaking overflow tank

why does my overflow tank spill out everytime i drive the car? it also leaks out of the thermostat cap but i think thats the wrong size

Well to start with the cap on the thermo its probably a bad seal. Blowing it out the overflow tank is probably because theres pressure build up somewhere. does the car get hot when this happens?

I would say replace the cap asap. Worst case scenario although I seriously doubt it, unless you are boosting 20+psi, the head is lifting and pressurizing the coolant lines.

i got a new cap. i didnt put it on yet. waiting for it to cool down 1st. im not running 20+ psi . im running stock psi whatever stock is. and my motor is rebuilt so i dont think the head is lifting
but the car does not overheat at all. its just when i park the overflow leaks a small amount of coolent nothing huge.

find where the leak is and have your way with some jb weld if its not the cap
