Lambo vertical Doors [Merged 8-7]

you barely have to roll the fender. Maybe 2 inches worth. Only where the bottom of the shock mounts.

I only paid $350 for the kit from a local dsmer that sold his car before putting them on.

It actually touches the fender? Can you take pictures of this? I'm about to buy some oversized wheels/tires... I can't have things getting in the way... 2 inches is alot...

the shock touches the fender. Look closely in the driver side wheel well. In the first 3 pictures wou will see the shock sticking out. Hope this helps.

Hmm, I never saw that on Ruby's car... Yeah I just now noticed it. So does this mean you cant use the stock plastic piece under the fender?

And thats a Vertical Doors Kit.

weird...my doors line up perfect so its not like I need to move them towards the back or anyhing.

Well it just means I have to cut the plastic piece around the shock. Its only an inch in diameter.

Did you just unbolt the door while having someone hold it, the fenders off, and lock the door, start bolting the hinges , make sure everything was aligned right before tightening things down? Also, how long did you have to extend the wires?

How much did the kit run you? Last time I remember seeing prices for those they were ~$1000.

Also, I don't know if you are a more performance modifier or just general "I-like-it-so-I'm-gonna-do-it" guy...but was it worth it? Like, really?

Not to steal anyones thread, but the fenders don't need to be pushed out or anything. If you look at the inner fender you will see that it has a right angle on the inside of it. You will either need to cut it out, or use a rubber mallet and a backer block to flatten it out. If you have fiberglass or carbon fiber fender you will have to shave off about a 10 inch section of that right angle.

Without modifying that right angle your fender will not go back on, if it does it will be extremely warped and your new vertical doors will bind and not open at all.

Now, as for the inner fender in the wheel well you might have to shave the inner portion out buy the second attachment bolt about the size of a quarter. None of it is visible, but depending on how your kit is aligning the lower shock portion of the hinge will hit the inside fender plastic. Just trim as neccesecary, again, it is not visible, but leaves a small whole around the shock for road debris to get in.

One person can install the hinges by themselves, but plan on using your head. These doors are heave and not forgiving. Make yourself an overhead brace out of 2x4 or just use rafters if your in a garage thats not sealed above. Hang your doors and just push them into place instead of trying to man handle a heavy awkward door.

Also consider placing a tack weld on the hinge itself where it meets the frame. If one of those bolts is slightly loose, or becomes loose; plan on repeating the process all over again. A tack weld it easily removed with an angle grinder or a cutting torch.

I have pictures that I will post if anyone is interested, they are of the fender, wheel well, hinge, and hanging the door.

Why do you have to screw that shock in two different ways.
Like the top turn it to the left and the bottom turn to the right:confused:

The top of the shock is screwed into a swinging hinge. The bottom of the shock is held in place into a swivel by the pressure of the shock and also a cotter pin. It is pretty secure. I can provide you pics if neccisary.

With the 70* kit you have to cut a small notch into the wheel well edge of the fender. This is for the lower part of the door strut. Maybe a 1" intrusion at most, I Hope it will not interfere with 25.4" diameter rolling stock. Anyone have an issue yet with clearance?

I used the ebay vertical door knock-off lambo doors first, because of the price obviously. And the Big problem I ran into was they would slowly work themselves loose and the door would not stay aligned. So I took them off and sold them on ebay. I since added a new set from GT factory, yes they are an expensive company but I did not care for the work involved in the cheap door kit. The kit I got was a weld on kit. Now I have no problems. I give the GT factory weld on type 2 kudo's!

To anyone looking to lambo there car. I would only recommend lambo doors on a car that doesn't get used for daily use. You will find them to be much more of a hassle getting in and out of. I thought I had the greatest things in the world, the only kid in my town with these, But I will admit....I have often thought about selling the car, just because they make me very angry sometimes. But Hey Good luck to those who want to do them.

You get what you pay for, especially with metal fabrication.

EDIT, and just a warning, you are gonna get some heat for bringing up "lambo doors" on this forum. To me its your car, do what you want, but there are a lot of people very opinionated here.
