I'm particularly interested in the Koyo Race radiator.

But I've noticed that the 2G model is 53mm, while the 1G model is only 36mm.

2G model: R2024

1G model: V1949

I don't have access to a 2G, but are the mounting points and dimensions the same? Could I stuff the 2G variant into my 1G?

Thank you,

From the information I can find, I don't think so. There are differences in the mounting locations, and I'm not even sure they are the same size. Hopefully someone can back me up with Dimmensions of a 2G Rad. A 1g is 27"x14". That is the fin area. Thickness varies, but thicker isn't always better unless you can get the airflow through it.

My 2g is approx the same size. It's 13.75ish by 27.5ish. So im not sure if it would work or not. Arnt the upper necks at different spots? Not that it would matter too much, but my 2g neck is right in the middle, arnt 1g's off center?

I would imagine it can be done as I know different people have modded a different gen rad to fit their application with other brands (don't remember if anyones done it with a Koyo off hand) I know there is some info on this board as well. From what I recall you have to change the mounts & 1g has a temp sensor in the rad itself while a 2g doesn't.

And if you're auto, I think the 1G autos had the oil cooler integrated on the bottom of the radiator while the 2G uses a separate oil cooler.
