Okay, I've had my car about a month. Its a 98 gst (stock) with 56k miles on it. Tonight I was drivin it around and everytime I would come to a stop, I'd hear a very slight knocking noise. As soon as I start driving again, it stops. I tried popping the hood and listening but cannot hear it unless I'm inside the car. The oil levels were fine and it recently been changed. HELP PLEASE! This car is my baby and I can't believe that something would be wrong with it already considering I've only driven it about a 1000 miles since I got it. (from a dealership)

Balance shaft bearing, rod bearing, throwout bearing, lifter tick, hamonic balancer.

Not really a lot anyone can say about a vague discription of a knock in email.

Hire a mechanic to check it.

i'm just an ignorant newbie but it could be crankwalk, i mean if its a 5sp. The clutch would be in. oil might not be getting to your rocker arms at idle since oil pressure is low. Then when you take off oil pressure raises.
I dunno better take it to someone who knows...its easy to replace stuff but hard to diagnose it...thats what i think.

I talked to one of the dsm members who said it might be "lifter tick", which he said is common in many dsm's.

yes, it more depends on if the ticking is RPM related. And if its a 5sp. i havn't checked to see if he had a car description. Cus if its only when he puts the clutch in then... I dunno I hear too much about this crankwalk so im just waiting for it to happen.

It must be the month of the lifter tick. I just got it too :thumbdown .. Nothing a little oil change cant fix up though :thumb: Good thing rebuild is coming
