so tonight i had my first race with my 96 talon tsi fwd and i lost the first race not by much but i still lost then we raced again and i reved out the rpms almost to 7,000 and i was wining most of the race by like half a car but she caught up in the end and i only won by a little bit. and the bad part is, she has a honda :( 2001 honda accord v6 auto i think v-tec and my car is 5speed 13 or 14 psi on stock t-25, stock side mount, intake and no muffler. i thought my car was alot faster. i think my wheel spin and my shifting(first 2 races ever) had alot to do with my lost and not to much of a big win.

A stock turbo DSM puts out 200-215 HP stock at the crank. Most modern V-6s put out about the same power. The 3G Eclipse GT puts out the same power as the turbo DSM stock. And it also has a V-6. A DSM can be fast. But you just have to have the supporting mods for it. For a typical 4 cylinder... it is fast. But when it comes to bigger displacement engines then its about equal to a stock V-6.

first off don't post street racing stuff, you'll get in troubles
second you lost to a honda soo nuff said
third you proboly don't know how to launch but then again niether can i so i bought awd:D

wow stfu people, he was at a track, well for newbies check for boost leaks, I bet when you get those fixed you will feel your car as a beast now.

Like said before, check for boost leaks. These cars in stock form aren't very fast. If you want your car to be faster, follow the upgrade paths in the tech articles. A few mods here and there will go a long way.

Those V6 accords pack a potent powerplant. I wouldnt be ashamed.

Not that year, i used to own one.... My first car was a 2000 v6 cpe, slow as balls... Im pretty sure horsepower is 200ish crank and if it was a v6 than that means its also automatic because honda didnt come out with a standard v6 accord till 2003.

Point is, your driving a pretty much stock 14 year old car, you need some simple mods and then challenge to another "race at the track" and see what happens...

The beauty of boost :hellyeah:

Oops, didnt notice the year on that one.

Yea, in stock form, the dsms are high -14 sec cars to mid-15's. you can squeeze a 14 out of it if you know how to drive it, but most of them tend to be in the 15-sec range.

There's no reason to be disappointed with your DSM. Losing your first race at the track isn't anything to be ashamed of. Use it as a learning experience on how to improve your driving skills. Create a starting point and list out some mods that you can do to improve performance. Figure out what end result you are working towards and get started slow because slow and steady wins the race. Some people just throw lots of parts and mods on their car quickly to hopefully make themselves a track beast but don't take the time to buy quality parts or tune their car.
You lost this time but next time you take it to the track I'm sure you'll be ready and will be more than happy with what your car can do. Best of luck. ;)

You shouldn't be shifting at 7k RPMs with a t25, it isn't making enough power in the high RPMs to shift that high.

Seat time and the driver mod will make you faster.

Those accords are pretty decent for power, I beat my friends 05 Tiburon V6 no problem though!

i dont' know... there must be something wrong.. i took out a Acura TL type S (on a closed course.. not a actual drag strip tho so no time slips to prove) by a few cars!!
And look at my mod list.. not many power adders, and i was running 15psi!!
The Acura TL/S is rated at 265ish hp!!

So ya i would check for boost leaks, learn to race a bit better(lauches, and shifting) and you should see a big difference!
And for FWD.. especially on fast spooling turbos, you dont really want to stump it in first, inless you have some grippy ass tires! that will cause you to break loose those tires!

guys i said i beat her the 2nd time LOL but yeah im not good at raced at all because i never do it but yeah maybe some mods soon but im trying to get it to be a good running car before i do mods. i have a front mount intercooler its not on yet and its nothing great but it has to be better the the stock side mount, it goes in the front and its alot bigger. do you thing this will give me any power?

ohhh i noticed today when i was reving, when i would rev it kinda high i would see like light smoke coming from some where in the engine bay im not sure if its near the turbo or the valve cover. idk

Dont over rev your engine, it will kill it. When you launch, if you spin and still have the rev limiter then wait for the car to catch before you shift, what I always did with my FWD Talon. Your car is stock so its all good dude, shit does indeed happen and its how it is. You win some and lose some, don't get discouraged.

Have fun at the track.

You won't need a front mount with the stock t-25. You can easily max out that turbo with the stock side-mount since the t-25 really doesn't have much potential. Don't even bother installing the fmic until you upgrade the turbo.
