I'm having an issue with the kiggly kit's spacing now that the car is all together. It seems to rub on something and the engine does not turn over completely smooth in places when I turn it manually.

Anyone else experience this before they started it? Is it hitting the starter plate perhaps? I don't know what else could be in the way of the flexplate...

In the instructions for the flex plate it shows an area you may need to grind down near the rear main seal. Although I never had to do that on mine.

Could you have the flexplate on backwards?

Did you use the correct auto bolts on the flex plate to crankshaft? Manual ones are too tall and interfere.

Did you use that thin metal shield with the starter hole between the adapter and engine?

There should be a little resistance at times when you crank the engine over by hand as the cylinders fill with air and what not.

mine came really close to oil pan flange. Havent started it yet but turned it over by hand to make sure it wasnt rubbing. In this pic its almost touching had to bend the flange back a little to get it to clear

I used new OEM 7-bolt flexplate bolts. I have a modified 6 bolt OEM flexplate as well, which is thin. I ground down the end of the oil pan. The flexplate is on right for sure, but I did put the starter plate on in the wrong order with the kiggly spacer.

You're using the OEM and kiggly flexplate at once? Only use the kiggly one. The starter plate should bolt to the block I believe.

And did you use the OEM flexplate spacer? I did not use it on mine and I have no issues.

No I mean that I didn't get the newer version of the kit with the new flexplate. IPT sells a shitty version of the kit. Mine came with a stock 6 bolt flexplate that had to have the boltholes slotted. Weak.

I put the flexplate spacer on as well. The only thing I did that was wrong was put the starter plate on first, then the kiggly spacer.

You bought it recently and it came without the kiggly flex plate? That sucks, I would get the kiggly plate anyway because the slotted oem one will fail in time and they are a pain in the ass to replace. I broke 3 of them over the years, with daily driving, and just switched to the kiggly one a month ago.

Bought it 3 months ago. Yeah I was pissed, especially since I had to slot it on the car, through the bellhousing opening. It only has an E316G on it right now, hopefully that flexplate will hold...?

It's not a DD, just a fun car that will see occasional, harsh use.

You guys are saying different things..whats the order of the adapter plate and starter plate? Which gets sandwiched between the block and the other part?

The kiggly spacer is supposed to go on the block side first, then the starter plate. I did it the other way accidentally. Since the flexplate curves in toward the engine, I think it is rubbing that now a bit.

Will this hurt the motor when I start it or will it have no trouble grinding down that thin metal? My neighbor who is helping me is real concerned.

I know this is super old, and I hope the OP figured this out!

But! Did you guys' flexpates come with a dowel hole? Mine does not which seems a little odd to me. But I suppose Ill just be pulling the dowel out.

Also, the one guy said he didnt use any spacers. The paper instructions that Kiggly sent in my box do show a spacer between the bolts and flexplate. How necessary is that spacer? This is the only thread I've found that even mentioned not having one. I've been piecing this auto together and was unaware there even was a spacer until I saw that sheet. Now Im kind of stuck if I need one.
