Just pulled my ecu out of my 1999 gst and was wondering how to get into the box and if i can tell my ecu is eprom from the numbers.

If i could get into the box i would be able to tell by the ecmtuning write up they have.

to open the ecu just take out the 4 screws on the side.

If your ECU is black plastic it is not an Eprom they only came in a steel case and only in 1995.

Thank you. Ecmtuning said they cant eprom my ecu would a 1995 ecu work in my car?

www.ceddy.us shows you how to open a black plastic one. But yeah that ecu is not dsmlink compatible at all. The 95 ecu will need to be chipped with DSMlink for it to run no problem. If the 95 ecu doesnt have DSMlink you will need to swap spark plug wires for a 95 ecu to work in a 99.

You have a flashable ecu, you don't need link. You can tune your car with ecuflash for only the cost of a flashing cable.

Well Link is easier and they can set it up for you. Ceddymods you have to know what you are doing.

I know if you have a flashable ecu people will pay for them and that is myself included. I burnt my last one up. .

99s are a toss up some are flashable some arent. Depends if it is early 99 (flashable) or late 99 (not flashable)

You can also convert 97 ECU's to EPROM's now. I read about it on there site and looks to be a good deal.
