Hello all, I just picked up my 1997 Talon TSI AWD. It only has 118,000 miles on it. I've been waiting for that perfect vehicle and finally found it. It is all stock and everything works!!! Weird huh? Anyways the first thing on the agenda is to do the timing belt. Last owner didn't do one on it and didn't know when the last one was done. Here are some photos.

Sir, you are a lucky man!! The engine bay looks unmolested...I mean un-modified...but that will soon change. Welcome to the tuners bro.

Yea...I got it off of craigslist. I have to get it titled and everything first. I haven't gone out yet or anything just picked it up on Friday. I'll be up for it once I get it titled, you know how to do timing belt?

First off Moparbishi, NESS is a freaking joke, second off, any DSM bought in Omaha has a 99% chance of it being a cobbled junker. Ask this guy he knows, I paid wayyyyyyy to much for Jesse Brunos black 95..Granted it looked amazing, the struts were shot, and paint was "brand new" maco paint. :( Good luck on the talon waggs. When you get that turd running good hit me up and see if im done building mine and we will have to have a a little race :D

I will say that it does probably need struts, but any car that has been around for this long needs that. It's maintenance that needs to be done! I'm sorry if you feel like you got screwed over but you have to know what you're getting yourself into when you purchase a USED car.

It runs now, but I'm not willing to run it. AFter I get all my basic maintenance stuff done it'll get better! Then we'll talk!:D

Also if anyone wants to give a hand with the timing belt stuff let me know. i'll pay for food, drinks etc!!!

I wish I could find a 2g that clean and stock for a great price like that. Every time some one is selling a 2g AWD it is either beat to death or it is extremely modded and they want your first born child with $1000 cash on top.

I agree with all that posted before, beautiful car. The Talon TSI bumper (2Gb) is the sweetest-looking stock bumper...at least IMO. Congrats on finding a good one, and good luck!

Haha!!!! I know what you mean. That's why I didn't mind paying as much as I did.

Treat her good man. Any plans of upgrades or going to keep her stock??

I am going to mod eventually. Not too sure what route I am going to go yet. A friend of mine suggested to wire the evo ecu up and that way we can just flash that. So that will be one mod. But there will be more to come here shortly.

A big thanks goes out to Moparbishi for helping me do my timing/balanceshaft belt and water pump. Great guy!

Also I just ordered the AMS underhood bushing kit, stainless steel clutch line, shifter base bushings and some new spark plugs.

Stay tuned for more info
