so, my car got towed out of my own appartment complex the other day. this is because they have a stupid policy on the decals they distribute to the occupants of the appt. but in any case, they towed me and when i looked at where my car was i noticed skid marks. they apparently dragged me out of the spot and then decided to go with a flat bed. every night when i park my car i park it in first with the e-brake up. they lifted from my rear end.

now the problems

now when i drive whenever i let off the gas i get a weird pulsing in the car that gets magnified when i'm on the brakes. also, my e-brake has started to squeal when i lift and lower the lever. (never happened before and just replaced pads and rotors a couple months ago)

also, my clutch now feels weird. for the first bit of push it feels like i'm hitting walls. it is very inconsistant and it engages and dissengages w/e it feels like it. i'm worried that this might be a heafty fix and need to find out what i need to get checked out. any information is greatly appreciated, this is my dd and i need it working to it's fullest. thank you all in advanced.

Sh*t dude. Dragging your AWD car?!? I'm not exactly sure what all it damages but I would stop driving it until you figured out what all they screwed up.

Go to the top of the page, click search site using google. Type in "Towing AWD cars", It will be the first option on the results page. When you click that, It will be a post by Defiant.

Boostedjay is right, if they drug your car, they should have to fix it.

call the company and tell them to fix your car...:thumb:

+2 They could have easily left a note/citation letting you know you have to pay a fine or you will be towed. NO ONE tows my car with out a flat-bed, with or without me being awd. Go get an free estimation from a shop with the date on it and the towing receipt, take it all to the tow place and see WTF they are going to do about it.

Wow. At first I thought you might have toasted your diff, but if they only dragged it out of the spot that shouldn't have messed it up.

Was the car in gear when they dragged it out?

Proper way is to tow it on dolleys. If they didn't, then they are liable. Sue and get a lawyer. It takes 5 seconds to see if a car has a driveshaft to the rear and axles up front. Call them and ask them standard procedure for towing a fwd car and rwd. Then ask how they towed yours. Make sure you tell them you are recording this!

I would get the estimate, then, based on how much the cost of repairs is, decide whether or not its worth it to sue the living daylight out of them for not doing the job they are supposed to be professionals at correctly...

If they backed it out while parked in 1st, they probably rotated the engine backwards too. You need to take it to the dealer and get an estimate for all the damage done. Afterwards, present it to the towing company. Tell them they either pay the bill to repair it or you'll take them to small claims court, where you'll have an easy win. This certainly isn't the first time I've heard of this, and I guarantee they damaged more than you know.

Just as an FYI, it is a very good idea for everyone that has an AWD car to place a warning sticker on the rear windows stating the proper way to tow it.

ok well i have a lawyer in the family that i gave a call. unfortunately i am completely liable b/c i was in a spot where i was not supposed to be. and the towing agency has a tow at own risk sign in the front of the community. so no matter what it's my problem now. i was in first when they dragged me, but when i picked the car up it was in neutral. now they said that they dragged it out of the spot and then put it onto a flat bed. anyone know where i could take the car to get a "free" estimate? preferably a reputable shop in south florida. or just a basic shop i guess.

Bad JuJu to Drag an AWD. Go to a good shop that knows about AWD cars. I'm not from Florida, so I can't tell you who to go to. Just ask around. But you need to get at least 2 different estimates. Take a copy to the apartment complex and ask to speak to the manager or whoever is in charge, and also do the same thing for the tow jockey. You also might want/need a good lawyer. If they don't wanna pay sue. Good Luck.

I Agree with this ^

If you were parked in a NO PARKING zone they will win any lawsuit you file against them. They probably have signs all over the place to cover their ass. What do you guys thinks these tow companies don't do this shit all day everyday? They know how to cover their ASS.

They don't care if our Heeps are AWD or not....they are contracted to move whatever is blocking the NO parking area.

That's like if you block a fire hydrant and the Fire Dept has to come put out a fire. Guess what?? they are going to smash out your windows and run a hose through your car. Are you going to SUE them too? ROFLROFL

This sucks but, I'd still atleast try to go to the tow guys with your estimate. Even though it's a no parking zone, they should still properly tow your car. I've found that some tow companies can be very shady. They admit to nothing, even when they are wrong.
