Well, for starters, I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so moderators, I'm sorry if I'm in the wrong.

Well, I've had my car for about 2 months now and my friend and I finally had some free time today so we did a lot of stuff to the car tonight. First off, we started by flipping my BOV around. For some reason, the guy had the opening part facing the wrong way, so I couldn't recirc it. So we just flipped it around and recirculated it back into the intake. More on that in a few. Then we decided to take the nasty air canister off. Still a stock filter, but that will be changed later on today. While we were at it we did that honeycomb removal.

See the whole reason for us working on the car was because my Oil gauge wasn't reading all the time. Sometimes it would, sometimes it wouldn't. So I was getting really worried. Plus my alternator would vibrate like mad, so we had to tighten that as well. Well, we got it on jackstands and come to find out, a wire wasn't connected right by the oil filter. I'm not sure if this is the wire from the oil cooler or not. But I did a search and I'm assuming this is correct. The alternator bolt was a little difficult to get to, so we had to take the downpipe off, and voila....we tightened it up. Well, since I got that out of the way, we kept on moving with the mods.

After all that, we fired her up, and wait.... :( ....I see sparks from the belt area. Well we look closer......the alternator bracket is f'n rubbing on the pully. So I'm thinking "ahh hell". Well, we try to bend the bracket to move the alternator, no luck. Just moves back. So we decided since I'm getting new belts later on today, we just decide to remove the PS belt so the pully won't spin and rub the bracket. We do that, all is well. We also adjusted the cam angle sensor. He said it was way too high. So we got the idle down to 900-1100, when at first it was 1600. My idle varies from time to time. I had idle surge, but it stopped after it warmed up down here. So the car runs really smooth now. Low idle, really smooth. Still lifter tick, but hey...can't cure everything. And the oil gauge reads fine now.

We decide to give her a test drive.....damn...the car runs great. BOV sounds even better. I like it a helluva a lot more. I reccomend recircing it instead of venting. But I'll shut up, not trying to rehash that touchy subject. I still get chatter from my tranny. We think it's the throwout bearing. Not sure yet. We'll find out in a few weeks when we replace the clutch and bearing. It shifts great though. Not bucking at low idle like usual, not jerking in between shifts. Love the car just that much more.

So later on today we are replacing the belts, removing balance shafts, cleaning the engine bay, adding a K&N, and trying to bend that goddamn alternator bracket and straighten it out. I'll get some pics of it tomorrow hopefully. Goddamn I love DSMs. :talon:

Oh and I forgot to add, we also cleaned out the intercooler. And it was extremely dirty of course. To sum it up, cleaned the intercooler, flipped BOV and recirculated, adjusted cam angle sensor, removed power steering belt, took air canister off and did honeycomb removal, tightened down the alternator, and reconnected wire for oil cooler. All this a newbie can do with just a little bit of time and DSMtuners :thumb:

At least it runs alot better! I'm also getting mine done today..."plug wires, valvcover gasket and my shaved valvecover put on,intake manifold gasket, and my new 2 1/2" downpipe&testpipe!(it's abnxousily loud and it dont feel like it has all the power?) I was thinking maybe its because the exhaust is leaking all right out of the flex pipe? Anyways, congrats on fixing the car.. :)

Thanks, feels good to have the car running like this. Damn exhaust leaks do suck. But hey at least it's loud :thumb: What kind are you getting put on? Whenever I get all of the initial tuning and stuff done to get the car up to good stock running condition, I'm going with a 3" Alum. turbo back from diamondstarspecialties.com
