Hey I forgot about this until it came time to update my tag on my 2g talon. My car has an Oklahoma assigned VIN# its like OK907XXX and its on a lead plate on the driver door jamp definately not original as opposed tothe normal 17 digit VIN. The VIN is still on the door jamb but the plate on the dash has been removed. I work at a local PD so I ran the VIN on the door jamb and it shows it never existed.
I was told by the tag agency that this is a strange case because the car has a green title and has had only 2 previous owners. The original owner purchased the car from the dealer and the VIN was missing then the tag office stated that its possible that this was one of the few cars produced in the mid 90s that got incorrect VIN plates that didnt match the actual assigned VIN on the door jamb. Any input on this guys? Im only 23 I was born in 85 so I was only ten when this happend
but an older dispatcher said she recalls a HUGE ordeal with some VIN errors that had people panicking in the mid to early 90's
Thanks!

Durka Durka.. Read my post again. I stated the door jamb sticker still shows the VIN but it doenst show it as active at ANY dealer or through our system at the POLICE DEPT where I work or through the Feds for that matter. Im wandering if any other DSMs have ran into this.
