Just Curious.. has anybody else had this issue?

With your VIN, it does show that your ride is one of the first 2G's to come out of the Normal ILL plant being the "001698" sequence numbers at the end of the VIN. Thus, the March build does also match up with the "MDH" labeling below:

MDH=030718 March 7th at 18:00 hours (6pm) in the year of 1994.

(and the "F" in the number does show you definitely have a turbo..)

VIN sequence numbers were issued on vehicles as they left the plant - and that was any DSM/MMMC vehicle that left in order. Thus, the previous and next sequence number could have been assigned to a Galant, Eclipse, or any other make.

My MDH is: 060917 June 9th at 5pm in 1989.

My theory is somebody Effed up. And put the wrong VIN plate on the dash and got things out of order. They sold the car to the first dealer. Then somebody caught that they supposedly had two cars. From what I read this has happened w GMC chevy a few times. Apparently its possible that the dealer did inventory and thought they had a car missing. IE different VIN plate on dash than the doorjamb transmission unibody etc. Soo to clear up the confusion they had to Delete BOTH VINS from the database and assigned it an OK VIN. It doesnt state that anywhere on the carfax report I bought 8months ago, but its the only logical thing I can think of. I did read somewhere the other day that a lady in charge at Diamond Star Motors had messed up with some of the VIN plates. It was on of those "monday-friday" things anyways supposedly they blamed her and only a few cars were involved. Idk how legit it is and I cant find the damn article again :(

Im just going to say screw it. The Title is green and Ive thoroughly checked the car over and over again. Everything on it matches never been wrecked and theres no modifications to point that it was ever a rebuilder.

Once a State has issued an ID number, the original VIN no longer exists. Your car is now identified by the OK Assigned Number.

Can't any of the cops you work with figure this out?

But your car is legit correct?? As far as current tags?

Yes, if you read he's doing a re registration. But everytime he goes through a re register he's having an issue. I understand completely. 17 letters and numbers that we call a Vin, is showing up invalid. Say I call in to local MVD or Police and give my VIN, it comes up with red 1994 Eagle Talon TSI AWD registered in my name. When he gives the vin, it comes up as INVALID. However there is an aditional sticker with some sort of OK "Serial Number" if you will, Stating the new number and when this number is looked up, it shows him as the owner and shows the previous owners and what not, just like a vin. But Department of Motor Vehicle is too stupid to realize that what Defiant said, is right, this "OK" number is the new vin!

So to the OP. I think what you stated in your first post about damaged or invalid Vin numbers being tagged to the car, might be right. And when it was fixed, it was given the OK Number. I hate going to MVD.

I just found out today, I no longer exist. because I didn't know my Drivers License was expired for more than a month. And I have no current mailings of any sort proving I live where I live besides my cell phone bill, and MVD wont take that... So I can't get a new drivers license until I re Register my car.

I basically had initial problems at the tag office and insurance. They looked at the title very closely and made sure it was legit and then disappeared into a room with the door closed for awhile. Then they started asking all kinds of questions. Luckily I had the bill of sale and the lien release of the bank it was registered to. Now with the insurance. I told them it was a 95 EA talon ESI. Insurance is hella cheap. Because after talking to them i figured there isn't a way to tell its awd turbo etc. It was cheaper to insure than my GS because it was a "sporty car" because of the sunroof and 2 door model. They just inserted the OK title number and of course it didn't come up. So they just verified the stamp on the door and asked me what kind of car etc

well ive been at home in bed sick tried all possible ways to research this. Its almost like the president of the US owned this car and they dont want anybody figuring out why or what happened to the original VIN. I swear its rather frustrating. Almost as frustrating as working on the DSM.. Grrrrrrr I hate my DSM right now :(

I don't know why you can't grasp this: when a State applies an ID number to a car, the original VIN is invalidated and replaced by the assigned number. Your VIN is no more. It has ceased to be. Your car now only exists by the Oklahoma number.

As for fraudulently insuring a car, the company will be able to and most likely will invalidate your policy when the fraud is discovered, leaving you without coverage. Not the best way to save a few bucks.

Did you seriously just post that :tease:

Its pretty obivous I knew the above mentioned about the discarding of the VIN. I was only curious as to why it was discarded. As for the insurance theyve inspected the car if a woman doesnt think a turbocharger qualifies a car to be a "sports car" its not my problem.

Im sorry but I took what you said rather rudely like im some complete idiot who doesnt know anything. :ohdamn:

Ive decided to stop worrying about it anyways. Anybody who buys it after im done with it wont be worried about CEL's or strange VINs :hellyeah:
