Hi, im new to the forums and to the dsm world. Im a 22 year old sales rep in wichita kansas, I was in the market for a new car and found a 1998 GST for sale with 83000 miles and a bunch of mod's. Normaly i decide against buying a moded car, but after many conversations with the seller i belived he knew what he was talking about...(still do) My last car was an 02 civic si, so i am really enjoying driving this car around town... here a list of what i have

I have Dyno papers showing 254 hp's... Here is my question.... where do i go from here.... obviosly im not starting with a stock car ( and im thinking that i perhaps should have, because i know nothing about turbo's.. ) i have looked at the tech giude and im wondering should i start at stage 2? Please help i hate the fact that i bought a car that alread:confused: y has everything..... i want to spend some money so i can mod it too!!! Obviosly id like a lil more power

bigger turbo(16g is an easy upgrade) would be a good start, and you can back that up with injectors (550's or bigger)...safc would help with the tuning part which would net you more power. a front mount would be good if you decide on a bigger turbo. it really depends on how much power you're looking for...i think if you just want a bit more a 16g would be big enough.

You don't neccassarily need to make the jump to a bigger turbo just yet. There is still ALOT of power hiding in that 14b. Do NOT under estimate it. I would suggest getting some 550cc fuel injectors, SAFC and some sort of logging device. Do not install the Walboro 255 without an AFPR! If you plan on running the 14b for a while and actually utilizing its potential, get a Walboro 190 and you will get plenty of fuel without having to install a AFRP. Then you could start looking into FMIC upgrades. Btw, a 2.5 press bent exhaust is better than stock and will do for now, but be prepared to invest in a 3in mandrel bent sometime in the future. You will need it. Good luck!

my .02 is to first get a AFPR and install it and the pump. then some injectors and a safc and loger. or make the jump and buy dsmlink to tune and log with.

what boost is the car set at now? id be very cautious running the stock fuel system

I agree with 92awddsm. Listen to him he knows what he is talking about, I would say invest in the dsmlink, hard intake pipe, and a k&n. Learn the before switching to a bigger turbo. That is one of the big mistakes by noobs coming into DSMs for the first time, because there is so much power potential out of the 14B. As far a getting that 16G off ebay dont do it, if you do get a 16G eventually get an MHI EVO 3 16G, and dont get it off ebay.

Welcome to the boards. If money is a concern, you can buy a palm 105 for less than $20 (ebay or half.com) and get the pocketlogger cable for $125(pocketlogger.com). And you can use that to start learning to tune. Like everyone says 550cc injectors and upgrade that fuel pump and get a fuel pressure regulator if you go with the walboro 255lph. I'm a big fan of the Big16G turbo and a nice front mount. I've heard nothing but bad things about SS Autochrone and most ebay transactions so do that at your own risk. Try looking in the classifieds and find someone parting out a car or upgrading turbos and make them an offer.

Some type of logging or tuning device, some sort of LSD as I can imagine even now it will have trouble putting power to the ground without excessive wheel spin and if it doesnt now it will;)

If you're going to jump to a bigger turbo down the road, Get one that you will never hafto upgrade again. I've went from a 14b, 16g, v-trim, 50trim, hx35/40... It's a waste of money every time you buy a new turbo. Also this would go with the fuel as well , Etc etc.. If you buy ''small'' you're going to regret it when you want to upgrade again and see how much money you actually wasted.

There is a lot of potential still in that curent setup.
1st thing you need some sort of tuning and loggin device...dsmlink/aem because you gotta now at all times how your engine runs!
Go with bigger injectors if you still have the 450cc's...also a 1G TB ,and a FMIC will add some HP to your ride.
The modds you have are pretty much bolt on stuff....I would look into beefing up that engine before I would swap the turbo if you're planning to break the 300HP zone.
You'll hit 300hp in no time with proper tunning.
What abt drivetrain?? I remember my 95 GST...i was in the 250HP zone also, and my stock clutch was a pain!
good luck
PS: NO I won't recomend a ebay turbo unless it's brand new :) , and if you plan on gettin a new upgrade go BIG(when you have the supporting modds/work done), a 16G is a standard now?:D

How much boost was running for those dyno numbers?
he told me he was running close to 18-20 psi ( i cant remember) but he was also using higher octane fuel... race fuel perhaps?

Boost is set to 15 psi, from what i have read this is the max....

dsmlink. Learn the car and how to tune before you jump to a bigger turbo.

I think that needs to be on the front page in big bold letters LOL. Very true statement. :thumb:

Boost gauge.
Maintenance (all and any).
Logger.
DSMlink.
New exhaust.

and yes, in that order.
Yeah my exhaust blows! I had just a n1 muffler for my integra, apexi seems to be the route to go

Arctic Racings 1G is or was on a 14B and he was running 18lbs. So 15 isn't the max, but the BOVs are what determines that mostly due to not holding the extra pressure, and WGs creeping. But LSD, a good sized turbo, not sure because Im currently looking just at 16Gs for my 1G FWD, logging is def the best way to go to free up power the engine already has, a built motor would be good but can get expensive, ACT 2600 would be a good think to look into. There are many mods that you can do, but most are restrained by $$$ or how much power you are wanting, and larger injectors(550cc or something else that will go well with any near future mods you are planning), wally 255 like others have said because why do it twice when you can do it right once, fuel pressure reg., or probably a good idea would be www.ffwdconnection.com and do their Hi-Flow fuel system $525.00, for everything you will need except injectors, and fuel pump.

i have searched this forum and i have not found a clear answer. So at the risk of being flamed i shall ask my question....:( Now EPROM ECU's only came in most 95's. So does a EPROM ECU do anything to increase hp? or is it only used in conjunction with dsmlink? If i get dsm link i guess i would need new injectors.... i plan on getting dsm link but not for a couple of months so should i wait on getting the eprom or would i benefit getting it now? Any advice from you dsm guys is greatly appreciated!
