just bought a 95 GST... now some help

hi guys i have been on here before but only had a gs, well i found a 95 gst, built fairly well(so i thought) and bought it. the 2 things i know it has a problem with is the oil drain line is leaking, which i plan to get fixed. but my other question i have read and searched and just need a little explaining on the subject. so it still has a stock t25 turbo on it, and it spools great, but the problem im having is when im beating on it, 1,2,3rd gear wot pulls, its begines to smoke/burn oil, then it will smoke 2-5 mins and its gone, no smoke at idle or first start up,, only under hard boost. SO i did some searching about checking shaft play and i may be a little dense but this is what i got, side to side (as in front to back in relation to the car) i have a little play. enough to feel it.now i think this is "in and out" (passange side to driver side in relation to the car) i have a i.m.o. good amount of play to the point to can hear it "click" when moving from left to right. and from what im reading that is the BAD play you dont want. correct"? would this cause oil to be burn in the turbine side ? or get forced into the combustion chamber with that much play? i have attached 2 pics of the ic piping, the valve cover hose has been disconnected so there shouldnt be ANY oil in the pipeing i believe. there is no pool of oil, but i havnt removed the lower i/c pipe yet that is from the outlet of the compressor, dont mind the crossmember that looks wet , so should i rebuild or buy a new/used turbo... i think im selling the car anyways, but obviously ill get more if its not smoking...

I would say the turbo is smoked and a t_25 is not worth rebuilding. If it was me and you plan on selling the car I would try to get my hands a used 14b and all the nessary hardware, do the swap and sell itif that's that your plan

+1 on getting a new turbo. Either get a 14b like said or get a 16g. There's plenty of used turbos in the classifieds, look there.

i haven't done any research on the 14b or the 16g, but the car has a tubular manifold, and external waist gate with a aftermarket down pipe, do either one of the mentioned turbo just bolt up to the original set up? the car has dsm link and i believe bigger injectors, has a 255 welbro (sp) pump, and cammed so i would assume it can accept a bigger turbo, but trying to do it on a budget. unless of course the turbo fixs my oil burning fully then ill keeper haha

so i have done some research and think im just going to go with the 14b, next question on the aggenda. i have an external waist gate that is set to 12 psi, i do not see a boost controller, but there is a vacuum hose going to it, should i assume it is a spring set waist gate:?
