JMF intake manifold or IPT shifter?

im in at a end of a build and i have a tough choice to make. do i get a aftermarket intake manifold or the IPT electronic shifter?


here are my mods so u know where im at...( i may of left some things out, im alittle tired.)

engine- fully built bottom end( .20 weisco pistons, eagle rods, etc..) stock head w/ BC280's and BC springs & retainers, 3g lifters. koyo radiator w/ 2 12'' slimline fans

trans- IPT torque converter, translab shift kit, IPT end clutches, 22,000 trans cooler, manual valve

tuning- gm maf/ maft, afc2, aero afpr, aem wideband

fuel- 780's, walbro 255

intake/turbo/exhaust- FP 4'' inake w/ 4''k&n filter, Spearco 2-120 core, 24x7.8x3.5, ported 2g exhaust manifold, bullseye tdo4e super 50 trim(using to break in engine), tial 38mm wastegate, custom 3'' turbo back exhaust, ams manual boost controller


now my problem is that im stuck between 2 parts for my car that will benift it alot. i know that if i getting the IPT shifter, i shift when i want and be able to use the rpms the cams will be providing me.

if i get the intake manifold, i will also see really good benifits also.


oh, my goals for the car is to have a fun strip/street car that will turns heads.

im not sure how much power i want to make because it depends on tuning and my next turbo setup.

Well you really need both... The 280's and JMF wount make any more power untill the upper RPMS and you wount make much more power in the upper RPMS without the 280's and JMF.
There is no point in having 280's if you are shifting at 7500-8000rpms
There is no point in having 280's with a stock intake manifold
There is no point in having 280's and the shift control to hold gears past 8000 rpms if you still have a stock intake manifold.
 
go with the manifold. you should already be able to carry the rpms as high as you like as for shifting. not while in D but if you started in 1st(low) than shifted it up when you needed. i've been able to on my 2g and dont see why it would be any different.

Which is horrible for a stock trans. DO NOT do this. UNLESS, you can maintain full line pressure, have a good cooler, a shift kit, and end clutches.
 
yea I have the ipt converter, shift kit, trans cooler, end clutches, manual valve. I am going to get both soon, but its going to to be within a few weeks of eachother. I think the shifter would be better in heping breaking in the engine. but I do agree that I do need both. but the question is, what to get first.

as stated in the OP 1st post he does not have a stock transmission, and either did I... but agreeable not to do it with a 'stock' trans. so thats good advice :sneaky:


i'd go with the manifold regardless :thumb: mine is actually on the way to my house hope you enjoy which ever you choose to get!
