Okay, I feel like a real noob right now but wanna make sure I'm not tearing everything apart tomorrow when I try and install it, only to be left scratching my head. I've seen the 1g kit and I know that it moves it to the firewall. But does the 2g kit do the same thing? Or does it keep it in the stock location? Didn't come with any directions or pictures and has a few small brackets and bolts as well and really not sure what they're for just yet. I've searched all I care to search. Thanks for any help.

Okay, so I did the swap but I have no idea where the little brackets are suppose to go. I'll show where I started and where I ended up, and the brackets I'm talking about. But overall, I'm happy with the way it lowers the battery and gives me much more room. It may not look like it lowers the battery all that much in the pictures but it does. I didn't have to remove anything except for the battery, tray, and the bracket that holds the tray. I guess on the 98's, the charcoal canister is somewhere else although I've yet to see it.

Yes, the previous owner was an idiot and swapped to a sidepost battery. Why? Well looking at some of the other things he did to the car before I took possesion of it, I can only assume that he was in fact, an idiot.

Closer look. See the small holes on the side of the tray? I guess the brackets are suppose to go there but there's nothing under the tray to bolt them to so scratching my head on this one.

The stuff I got rid of by doing this.....as well as removing weight. Obviously.

And the brackets I'm talking about.

I figured it out. I had assumed the mount location was the same height as stock and had only been looking for mount points to accomplish that for which there are none. After looking at the stock battery tray support I realized the jmf tray mounts much lower than stock, to where the stock tray support mounts. The bolts are slightly staggered vertically and on the strut tower.

You'll need to remove the emissions stuff underneath there, or relocate it, in order to use this, as it mounts in the way of that. In my case I'd already pretty much removed the rest of the evap system so I unbolted the bit that was under my 99's tray and threw it away. There was one hard line from for which I wasn't sure what to do with... I think it might be the gas tank vent line and so I'm leaving it open to atmosphere at the moment.

Oh, I should add that those brackets and bolts you posted a picture of are ones that come with the battery itself, not from JMF. I believe they're used if you don't have the round brass terminals that JMF includes as those round terminals are sold separately normally. The only pieces in that picture you might want to keep are the lock washers and bolts, because you can use those to screw in additional connections vertically into the battery posts.

I had never found an answer about the brackets and bolts but I 've just used the tray and it's worked just fine. I probably could've just emailed jmf and found out the answer but 1.) I haven't had any issues and 2.) If anyone else had the same issue, they wouldn't know the answer either. So figured i'd post it up here.
