I really like what your doing with the car bro, it's good to see a fellow dsmer actually doing some maintanance first and not just jumping into mods  after seeing this thread I'm really starting to miss the dsm world....it just sucks because of the ridiculous prices on dsms here in Cali and the poor condition they are in. Hopefully soon though ill come up on one and sell the srt. Anyways if you don't mind me asking how much did you get this beauty for and miles etc.??

I really hope you find one man. I didnt know they went for that much over there. I picked this one up for $5500 and it has about 145K on it. It may be a bit overpriced but the black leather did me in. LOL

Today, I continued my journey to finally getting the gsx into respectable status.

First, just for fun I placed the VC and heat shield just to get a look as to how it will look. Not bad I must say.

While I took off the shield I noticed something....not good...there were some nuts missing on the mani!!! WTF AND one stud was snapped, pissed me off!!

Yet another task for me.

I started pulling the drivebelts off to finally get to the timing belt.

These arent Crower cams are they?? I really doubt it, they feel totally stock.

*edit* Now from looking at the pics, that looks more like a HC to me on the cams. haha So I guess forget the question.

I see a few rusty spots :|.

There is this stuff called "RUST WASH" or something similar. You can find it at some hardware stores, and marine shops. You concentrate it and use it in your pressure washer. It turns rust black and stops the rust from corroding.

The car is looking good tho~!

Thanks guys! Ill probably continue the timing belt job...

Yeah there are definitely rust spots, but Im willing to give this a shot. Thanks! Can you use it on painted surfaces? Any paticular stores?

haha. Yeah thats what I keep telling it but DSMs have ADD od something.

What do you mean you got your car back?

I didnt get to work on the car today. I was and till am busy working on my pops truck that has a damn rear light short circuit issue or something. I cant figure it out. Sad thing is that its my daily now and the battery keeps dying by the time I get outta work. It startted happening yesterday...

Anyway, I always do my timing belts with zip ties and and some random spanner wrench to torque the timing pulley but I thought Id give Jay Racing a shot and ordered their timing tools. These better be good for >$50 BUCKS!! :ohdamn:

And random shot of how restrictive the stock UICP really is. WOW good job Mitsu engineers, way to acommodate the 4g63. :toobad:

It was in the shop for an external oil cooler from cx racing 13row an8 and blue gates racing hoses, also painted the nice gst rims graphite and installed them today.

Sweet! this is on a 7 bolt? How much did that run you? just for the oil cooler and lines. Post up some pics man!!!

It's crazy how mitsu designed that upper intercooler pipe flat as hell just to acommodate that huge ugly box.

I paid 150 shipped, its originally 169 plus shipping, but that's why I like having my guys at the shop work on my car cxracing.com They have some cool stuff, it's an easy direct bolt on, just take off the brass water to oil cooler slip on the sandwich plate and go from there.

Got a whole thread for it, but here ya go.

Oh forgot to show you the wheels LOL.

I still have to figure out why the oil psi is even higher then before I dropped it off??? It's not leaking, seems good. The engine is running effing hottttt too. But not overheating. I wonder if the vented bov is faulty and causing that some how?

If you wanna see the wheels its in the thread painted rims, I cant get the pics up here.

Oh man, that oil cooler looks SWEET!!! I think Im going to look into one of those. Good job.
