Don't paint your spark plug cover. You can get one from extremepsi for $25 brand new. I got mine new and love it.

Hmmm well if I was going to buy one it'd be a cool aluminum one or something. Honestly, Ive painted them on all my cars and came out just as good as new. Nowadays, those $25 could go to other parts or bills. LOL

Lol i understand i'm just saying. I'm just anal about small stuff like that on my car.
To each its own. :p

Yeah so am I but you kinda have to compromise with the monetary situation once in a while. :)

I guess you can say I got some important tasks accomplished today. I pulled off the plug cover and found this...

I am fairly happy with the results, its no 180 but functional indeed.

Then I pulled off the VC and heat shield for paint prep. I started taking off the tiny IC pipe and got it halfway out. There are two stubborn ass screws holding the damn thing on and I gave up after it got dark. My buddy came over, we started drinking and talkin so we threw in the towel for the day. LOL

They're probably going to be all Black. The VC will be black with silver letters, IF it looks good. Im doing all this myself.

Yea that would look nice but thats for like pros man. LOL Im doing a simple black.

Also, the car came with a few goodies :hellyeah:

Does anybody know if I buy the harness that they sell at ExtremePSI I can hook this Greddy up? or does the timer come with some other harness because this only came like this but I know its missing something?

Show the actual clutch not the box, I can't find that first part number...As for the wrinkle black paint, it's in a simple spray paint can, spray it on and it does the rest. You need a harness for that turbo timer, BUT you don't need a turbo timer on stock turbo, I have 15psi and I just let the car sit a minute before shutting it off. But when you are ready to put that big turbo on, then you should use it.

Well I know I need the harness but was wondering if the one form ExtremePsi would fit, since it seems to be universal...

I know I dont NEEEED a TT but I like having one, instead of waiting in the car for that ~minute, I could already be inside in the AC. haha.

And where do they sell this wrinkle coat? u know any big chain stores where I can buy it?

Ill post pics of the clutch after work. Did you find the part number for the SECOND one or something?

Thanks!

back when i was first getting into the dsm world i had a "dsm shop" LOL put a new clutch in and they said it was a aftermarket clutch excdy or whatever and after awhile i did research and founf out that it was just like the stock one, so from there on i just went with ACT

I hope you didn't leave the head like that - no valve cover and nothing in the spark plug holes. I'd be careful to not let anything drop in there.

haha. Nah, Ive done plenty of these things to know better. It has a bunch of rags covering all the good stuff. Thanks for the warning though. :hellyeah:

Thats exaclty my way of thinking. Ive always thought that Exedy is a stock clutch but Ive been reading that they have 'race' clutches...idk. :hmm:

This weekend was somewhat productive but lazy as well. LOL

I was able to pull off all desired parts and prep and paint them. I wasnt too thrilled how thw UICP came out but oh well. It's going to be a hell of an improvement from the way it was. :rocks:

Freakin aluminum intake was a PAIN to paint, it took like a million coats to cover.

Thanks! Nah I didnt have a chance to work on it yesterday, I was busy doing some personal stuff. I think Im going to get back at it in the aftrenoon though. :thumb:

I got my partsdinosaur.comorder in yesterday!! Ill take pics later and post. This will finally give me a chance to do all timing stuff and finally get it onthe road. Cant wait.

looks good keep it up... keep posting about the build.. cant wait to se that HX turbo go on

GSTRyder Im trying to eliminate ALL rust but we'll se what happens.

Steve, I agree with you, I think most 99 came with black interior but I say this because the top is gray but idk

Nick, LOL, yeah I bet it would suck it in if it was mounted to my engine and spooling. LOL My goals IF I put the HX on is 450 whp with the DSM housing and 38 mm recirc wastegate. Itll be tough and expensive but you only live once. haha

I went out shopping earlier and Im ready for battle tomorrow. Im ridding myself of all grease stains in the bay...I hope!

I also decided to paint my VC black with silver letters, we'll see how it comes out.

Steve- this is the paint Im using, I used it on my last GST on the shield as well and I had no problems other than a bit of peeling around the side bolt. It was still as glossy as always though.

Tofast- Thanks for the compliments man, I think the Hx wont be on for as while because of monetary funds but Ill try my best to get it on asap.

DSMj89 - Well I took a look at the engine bay and I noticed just a blob of black sorrounded by the white paint. I thought the bay needed some contrast in the middle of it and the silver should look pretty good.
