Hello,

I need help finding out a little bit more about a JDM transmission I bought to put in to a 92 eagle talon tsi. I did a number of searches here at DSM tuners and google and couldn't find any info on this transmission code# R:dsm:DOT(see attached for image). Has anyone seen this transmission code# before?

The Mitsubishi number is MD720131 meaning it's a galant vr4 transmission from what I've gathered on the forums. I just want to know more about this transmission code # and if there is any difference in gear ratios between the galant vr4 transmissions.

Thanks!
Dan

Old thread... but I just bought a transmission with the same stamp. Its got steel shift forks. It had a 23 spline output, dude took the first cover off so I could check it out. I was hoping it will work as parts for my current evo 1 box.

Sweet thanks. Im gonna have to crack it open and see whats inside now. Its either an early evo 1 trans with the 2.57 1st gear or it could be a standard 1gawd trans with evo 3 shift forks. Either way it has cast steel shift forks so its a cool find.

Donnie you are correct. My 91 trans had aluminum 5th/rev. I cracked the trans open today to check for serviceable parts and the 1-2 and 3-4 forks were aluminum. Thankfully the front diff ratio was 3.545.
