i was just wondering what the difference is between the "jdm" transmission and the "us" transmission, 4G63-GTE is the jdm engine code and the vin number on the transmission is w5m332upge and its 5 speed manual i have a eagle talon 96 tsi awd i was just wondering if this transmission will work on my car or not. Also what issues would i run into with this transmission i have a daily driven 300 whp talon that i dont beat the crap out of so i dont want to buy a shep or tre transmission

"JDM" trannies for our motors usually come from early JDM cars (pre -93 model year). This means that they have several inherent problems:

- no double synchros (not sure if that effects ALL JDM trannies).
- no provisions for 2G tranny mounts (1G use only)

And, of course, some of them come with one positive: a switchable option.

So basically, you can not use this JDM tranny in your 2G. But if this is a switchable tranny, a competent tranny builder can rebuild your 2G tranny with those JDM parts and make your tranny switchable. But I wouldn't use the rest of JDM parts.

I think youd be ebtter off with the 2g tranny in your car, they are strong and come with double syncro, my friend is running his stock tranny in his 500hp capable (not whp) talon and its still running great, at 127k miles and I dunno how many of 500hp capable abuse.

The only JDM trannies that work for our cars are EVO 1-3 transmissions which require the rear end to go along with them.

Get it built right by a competent transmission builder, not any JDM crap.

the dude says its for a 95-98 talon and its from the "cyclone" motor not to know if that changes any more of your discissions but thank you i guess ill take my tranny out and get the center diff fixed and stuff
